This years Epic Summer trip

After a hectic morning getting to Plymouth to get the bike serviced at 9am then just over 100 miles to Woolacombe including a dodgy leaking LPG pump and a council white van man shattering my wing mirror indicator we arrived at Woolacombe an hour or so ago. The final chapter in this years epic tour (or is it?) :D

No photos yet as the sunny weather forecast is not sunny! Well that and I haven't left the van yet.

Our first full day in North Devon then. Mortehoe / Woolacombe. Sadly the sunshine we were promised was mainly light cloud with a little bit of sun until much later when it did make a proper appearance followed by a cracking sunset over the village (Mortehoe). Visit to the pub just to take some sunset pictures of course.

Nice rake round the cliffs and dunes and down on the beach before a late lunch near Ilfracombe. I have a hatey stalker on one forum who doesn't believe there are cliffs here so I made a little video. :D

Forecast is very good for the next week or so. Surf was a bit naff today but I am hoping to go Body boarding on Monday morning when the waves are supposed to improve. :D

A Few pics. Oh and good positioning of the lifebuoy in Ilfracombe Harbour!

Heard nowt today, whip round not productive ??

Yeah you will all have to insert a tenner to continue. :D

Didn't do a lot yesterday although I did shoot a bike video. Just not got round to sorting it. Was supposed to be going body boarding this morning but looking at the webcam its as flat as a pancake. No good for us gnarly surfer dude types. Will have to wait until we have another storm.

A little ride from the campsite at Mortehoe, down through the village through Woolacombe, Marine drive then up and back down the massive hill back into Woolacombe and back up the big hill into Mortehoe to the site. A cracking run on the scooter. The second half is better as the sun is behind me.

I really must get a better camera though. Its crap. Will have to consult Uncle Tim about that. :D

I've named that run "Barry takes no prisoners" , you force a white SUV thing to let you past, then multiple cars pull over to let you through with no slowing up on your part ........... excellent 😂
By the way, can you keep your head still, or stay longer looking sideways, there again perhaps not 🤔🤣.
Great run, what about one of those 360° camera jobbies ................

Yep. Get in the way of the Biff Chariot at your peril. Its even better in summer when you get the SUV Mexican stand offs down the narrow lanes. You get to do the SUV Slalom then.

Yeah 360 degree camera and a drone I think.

Settling in nicely here for the last few weeks of the never ending trip. :D

Apart from Storm Amy we ain't half been lucky with the weather since we returned to the UK. This morning started off with a few clouds but soon gave way to glorious and much warmer than forecast sunshine. Its been fabulous. Went a bit photo happy today. Of course Ill no doubt have posted all these pictures before. The cloudy ones are mainly around Lee Bay which is a favourite and the sunny ones around Woolacombe and Morthoe really, plus a "spot Hank" Campsite picture. There are some cracking houses in Mortehoe overlooking the sea. The big one, middle right is the one I would have but if I had a choice I would prefer South Devon and either Salcombe or Thurleston. That place definitely has the edge for me and its a boaters paradise whereas North Devon not so much I think.

Managed to swim a mile yesterday and today and wangled the pool to myself. Its all very exhausting! :D

Lots planned the next few days. New bike is a joy. If you remember last year here with the old one the transmission was on the Fritz and you had to ride like a lunatic to get up the steep hills.
