A link to a Government Petition I've recently signed and thought may be of interest to us all

Petition: Require service stations to provide motorhome waste and water facilities

We are calling on the Government to update guidance for Motorway Service Areas (MSAs), requiring they provide essential facilities for campervans and motorhomes: toilet (black waste), grey water disposal, and fresh water refill.

Signed Del. It’s about time these ‘Service Areas started providing service, and stopped acting like money making machines who can’t even be bothered to sweep up, empty bins or surface the area properly.
In reality, the only thing they know how to do is Overcharge.
 
Aren't service stations privately owned? I think they are notoriously expensive as well for fuel and parking. I don't think there is anything the government could do but if the service stations started providing service points you can almost guarantee they will not only not be free to use but bloody expensive to use.
 
They are mostly privately owned but they have to comply with Govt requirements as to what is provided, e.g. they have to allow you to park for free to facilitate a rest etc, but most now charge if you stay over the 2 hour free period. Equally they have to provide parking for all vehicle types, so yes, those least likely to spend money will be the furthest away from the facility itself. I think they operate under licence from the Highway Agency so there is nothing stopping a requirement for MH facilities on new service areas or when licences are up for renewal.

People I know doing background work for a possible pitch on a contract with Little Chef did quite a bit of research on motorway service stations . Not as profitable as most of us would assume
