After years of drinking tea that you could stand a spoon upright in ,I recently had the option in our local supermarket of Typhoo or Typhoo ,what a load of crap 3 bags in one cup and still had no flavor or color . Is this what the average customer wants?

I guess it depends on who the average customer is? The way YOU make tea I would find totally undrinkable. And clearly the way I like MY tea you would hate.
Who is right? Neither is right.

In 1969 I got married and at that point I was a definite "spoon per person, one for the pot and let it mash for at least 4 minutes" person.
SWMBO, however, was a "put water in teapot and pour it out" girl.

This meant she had finished and I was still waiting to take my first sip, which was not a good thing,
Over the years I reduced the mashing time and I am now drinking tea flavoured water.

Coffee, however, is a different matter. I like "Horse shoe" coffee !
Method
1) add coffee to pot
2) add water to pot
3) put horse shoe into pot
4) if horse shoe sinks add more coffee
5) Repeat step 4.

Good to have a SWMBO who knows how to make tea :) (y)

Loose Leaf Yorkshire Tea for me it's better than bags. But bags are very easy and convenient.

Always used Indian Prince loose tea from the Co-Op when I were a lad. Lovely strong tea.

Now we use Yorkshire tea bags, made in a teapot proper like. Strong enough for me if left for a few minutes.

My standard brand is Ringtons. Proper Northumberland tea, not that rubbish Yorkshire stuff :D (seriously, I don't like Yorkshire Tea. Guess it mut be an aquired taste?).
Delivered to the door.

They've changed the options around but my current one is the 'Traditional' One Cuppa ones - https://www.ringtons.co.uk/products/ringtons-traditional-cuppas-tea-bags . Get just about two mugs out of one of those ;) (Used to get the 'Muggables' which had an easy 2 mugs from them)

Mint tea, feckin mint tea, have you had your ally bags chopped off or what?
Feckin mint tea, tssshh, devils pish!
Stupid innit Ral, I stopped buying it last week, on Lemon & Ginger now, but mint is quite good for type 2, except if you put it in the mug with hot water for more than a millisecond, it goes bitter.

No Kev, not that baged stuff you add boiling water too, proper Atay(a)

Green tea leaves with spearmint and a touch of sugar.

First had it in Tangier some 30 years ago, great on a hot day.
