Is this Thursday, so there will be a big holiday weekend in France. Aires and sites will be jam packed. I've already heard of people not being able to get on to places.

We got caught out a couple of years ago, I've never seen anything like it.

If you are somewhere, or can get onto a place tomorrow, I really suggest staying put until after the weekend.
 
We got caught up in it a few years ago. It took three hours to travel from Salbris to Orleans, normally a 30 minute drive. We thought at Orlean that we would pop onto the autoroute to make up some time, even the autoroute towards Paris was stationary, another two hours got us to Saran services, and we just stayed there overnight!!

Talk aboot deja vu, I just realised that as I posted this I was posting from Salbris
 
We never book in advance but 2 years back when we came off the Newcastle - Amsterdam ferry and headed up through Holland we realised that absolutely everywhere was full. We knew nothing about the Ascension weekend. Eventually we managed to park up in a great little aire called Molen de Hoop in t’Zand and had to stay there from the Wednesday night right through to Sunday. Luckily there was a fair bit to do in the area otherwise we would have been bored out of our minds. Lesson learned and we now check the dates for Ascension before travelling!
 
Ascension Day, a Christian holiday commemorating the ascension of Jesus into heaven, is a public holiday in many countries, including Austria, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Indonesia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Namibia, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and Vanuatu.

It is not a public holiday in the United Kingdom or Spain.

Well, he's never sent me a text or an email; and as for the telephone ... The number of times I've checked whether it's switched to silent, or whether I've missed a call, but no, not one iota ... :ROFLMAO:. I'm still with the dyslexic agnostic insomniac who lay awake every night wondering whether there really was a dog up there ... :ROFLMAO:

Actually, I've only been an atheist since I've heard that Satan has shut down the furnaces of Hell because he couldn't afford the energy bills, the UK Government wasn't able to offer a subsidy for fear of upsetting the other half of the population, and the Chinese weren't interested in taking Hell over ... What *is* the world coming to, that's what I want to know ...

Don't worry about Hell, Steve, Trump will have annexed it by then !!

I think that it really depends where you are. I've never had any issues and certainly don't stay put for 4 or 5 days.
