Whats the strangest or most exciting thing

oohh! animal stories !
in Provence my mate lent his donkey to a bloke from the village for his kids to play with . couple of hours later we got a call , the donkey was dead ! seemed they'ed tied him to a tree by his halter, and he'd gone round the tree a couple of times and strangled himself . quite sad but what to do ?
we stuffed the corpse into my mate's tiny citroen van but couldn't close the back door because rigor mortis meant his stiff back legs were in the way . so we sawed off the legs with a wood saw [the kids were loving ths !] , drove up the mountain to a handy ravine and dropped him off .
nobody saw the village dogs for a week

The dead donkey was dropped

I took this image after midnight, October 2013, rutting season. This was back in the day when one could wildcamp at the top of Applecross Bay. Absolute din, that woke us, as the stag in the pic, brought his hinds down to the beach at low tide. We were in our Dethleffs at this time, which had a barn door. As stated, the noise from the stag was horrendous at the small hours, I lay until it was time to move him on, he was metres from our van, actually, when I opened top half of door, I could have grabbed his antlers, which were huge and could take aa week washing to hang on to dry.

I nearly blinded the stag with my lamp, which was like a search light on full mode, the stag got the message and move on, along with his hinds.

This sort of reminds me of a story told in the daily 'Confessions' section of the Simon Bates show on Radio 2 many years ago.

Two blokes in a Welsh mining village had visited a local pub and were a bit the worse for wear when they left. They decided to take a short cut across a field despite it being a little dangerous as there were several disused mine shafts in the area, inevitably they came across one.

Being curious they dropped a stone down it hoping to hear when it hit the bottom so they could tell how deep it was but no sound was heard. They dropped a larger stone but again nothing. They searched around and found what appeared to be an old railway sleeper and thought they would definitely hear that hit the floor and so carried it to the edge of the shaft and tossed it over.

To their surprise they noticed a length of rope following the sleeper as it fell and then even more to their surprise a rather unhappy looking Goat went flying past them and down into the shaft attached to the rope - it had been tethered to the sleeper!

For some reason when I read that I got confused and played the Simon Bates "Our Tune" in my head. That just makes it more funny to be fair. :ROFLMAO:

Nowt todo with mi van , yesterday I was sat by a small fishing pond chilling , started chatting to an old guy sat next to me very sharp and fit ,he told me as a boy of 14 he was rescued from his bombed out house in the Sheffield blits , ww2 he then told me he was 97 years old . I walked with him and went past his house , he said I live here ,that's my white car on the drive , he was the most interesting person I've ever met ,

I haven't got a photo of it, but one sight educated me, as it was intended to. I drove into a motorway service station in France. In the middle of the car park there was a fenced off area with a Renault van parked on top of a pedestal. It was whatever their version of the AA was, I can't remember. The van was an unusual, but not unobtainable panel van with two side sliding doors. One each side in case you are getting confused. The van had been rear-ended presumably while attending a breakdown on a motorway. It was an inverted V shape. The two open doors had made the body so flexible that it just bent in half. The engine and van innards had been removed. There was a warning sign to the effect that if you break down on a dual carriageway or motorway you must get out and go away, or this might happen to you. I have since seen a couple of camper vans built with this base vehicle and I always suck air in between my teeth and think "no thanks"

Question is would you have one built with twin sliding doors, or a motorhome made out of 'cardboard', might as well be cardboard for all the crash resistance it offers.

The doors are a part of the structure and you don’t drive around with them open🤷‍♂️. I presume the van your referring to was rear ended with both whoosh bang doors open.
