There's an allegation on one of the anti-motorhome sites that the beige boxes (I assume) are an old cassette toilet.

Thoughts? I'd love to challenge it but want to be sure first.

Definitely an older type Cassette Toilet.

I have one similar on my boat which I need to dispose of.
It is indeed an old camping toilet but it isn't a cassette toilet which feature a permanently installed bowl inside the vehicle and a removable, portable waste-holding tank (the "cassette") that slides out from an exterior access door for easy, mess-free emptying.

The unit pictured is completely free standing (or free sitting!) and consists of two halves.
The top half has a seat, a flush tank and a manual pump.
The bottom halve holds waste and chemical.
You split the unit and only took the bottom half to the CDP.

I remember the first time we had a cassette, such sophistication.

Yes I have the modern equivalent of the one in the picture - Mine being a Thetford Excellence.

I actually prefer having a manual pump, less to go wrong and hardly an effort to use. Pretty much the same emptying procedure as a cassette really, take the lid from the spout and pour whilst pressing a button to let air in.

The only downside is you have to take the whole thing out of the van to empty it really and secure it whilst travelling but again no big deal.

People are getting uptight about nothing these days usually with some strange agenda that involves stopping others from enjoying themselves. No matter what it is. Just look how much poison was in the comments on the AI post of the cornish farmer. I believe the author knew exactly what the reactions to it would be

Mine will be going to the local tip and I would imagine I will be told to put it in the 'Household Bulk Waste' skip. It will be in a black dustbin bag but it is clean anyway, certainly cleaner than the bags of Nappies that are 'dumped' there which certainly should be bagged properly!

Not sure what they are complaining about is that at a campsite waste disposal point?
No, it's at a local authority waste point. You probably could argue that its the council, rather than the camper, who is in the wrong; but I'm not going tomadd oxygen to that particular argument.

It is just an old version of something still sold today, a porta potti 365, probably not used by motorhomers, but more likely used by campers and those strange types in boats

I have a couple in my shed, just have got round to getting rid of them yet.
Thanks for the tip about a place to dump them
