If the State Pension is all he gets, then he will stop paying income tax, (assuming he paid tax previously of course). He seems to be cheerful enough such as to indicate he's expecting more than the SP though!

There is a top-up payment to bring one up to a minimum amount, not sure what it is, but it isn't much.

Even though I only receive state pension, sadly I will be paying tax, because my pension annual amount comes to more than my tax allowance, but I shall only have to pay tax on around £600 p.a.
