Not a Hymer…a Chausson. I spent ages finding a name and when I came across ‘Faramund’ I knew that was the one. I also like that it has a Lord of the Rings vibe about it too.

Intolectioclectual…interesting word; I don’t think I’m one of those😉

Pictures of the dog as many on here are doggy folk, not me im a cat man, was going to use another word but thought better. ;)
 
So jealous! I've recently had my first venture in my motorhome and now cant wait to tour Scotland. It's top of my list. Waiting for Spring 2026. Would love to hear your most memorable places especially where you'd recommend stopping over

Hi Sharps…where do I start? I used Polarsteps to log and track my journey as I moved nearly every day and I just wouldn’t remember it all (see screenshot). Search for sites was my go to and I did a mixture of free park ups, campra aires and some campsites. I travelled up the west coast, zig zagged a bit to Inverness to meet up with family, up to Orkney then roughly down the east coast, Northumberland then Pennines, etc. I mostly kept away from cities and big towns and really only made a decision about where I was going the next day either the evening before or on the morning of leaving. I made a decision early on that if I didn’t like somewhere or it didn’t feel right then I’d move on (this was rare though).
Places to mention….there are so many so I’ll try and keep it short.
Isle of Whithorn, Killantringan lighthouse, Girvan, Loch Lomond, Loch Lochy, Skye - Sligachan and Glenbrittle, Torridon, Gairloch, Tain, Orkney - Mull Head Nature Reserve, Skara Brae, Skaill Beach, The Kelpies…. there’s many more. Anyway I had an amazing trip, met some absolutely lovely people including locals, other travellers and tourists.

What have I learnt? I need to slow down the pace of moving every day…didn’t realise how tiring that can be. Next time I’ll spend more time on Orkney and maybe try to get to more of the islands.

I'm late to the party as usual! In my defence, we were away and I didn't always have internet and if I did, my good lady was looking at LGBTQ web sites, evidently the best looking men are on those! I am still trying to work out if I should be offended!

Welcome from Northants. Nice van and that looked like an epic trip! I have to agree about the slowing down, we used to get over to France and move every day over three weeks. Not only did it cost a fortune in fuel, it also meant that we normally only had the afternoon to explore, we missed quite a bit. We now stop at least two nights, sometimes three, but the odd occasional one nighter.

OK, I guess you can get yourself out of the bath now, 7 weeks of grime should have been nicely soaked now. If you need a wire brush for those important little bits... 😂 :oops: 😂
 
I am even later, lots of excuses but no real reason! Welcome @Hiraeth .....looks like you had a great trip! We have also learned that the journey should be slower, and unless there is a target at the end where we want to stay for a long time, we try and move less and relax and explore more.
 
Could have sworn I posted this yesterday. Are you by any chance the lady a slightly batty women with white hair gave a sticker to when I was discussing whether certain pepper plants were being given away by your neighbour in a certain village?
