Err yes a question on campsites and I do know this is a wildcamping forum. I don't normally do campsites, except when needs must.
Anyone have recommendations for any campsites that have swimming pools .
Going shortly and if this weather keeps up the 2 grandchildren we are taking will get fed up in the heat.
North or south it doesn't matter as we are there for a month...

Some camp sites but never seen any with swimming pools, most few folk here just go to the beaches, which bit of Ireland do you wish to go.
Few up my neck of the woods.

Very flexible. We have ferry into Larne from Scotland end of july and out of Rosslare to south wales at end of August.
It's been 30 years since we have been to Ireland. But north east / then north /west then down west coast .
Been told by granddaughter we have to go to Derry. Something to do with Derry Girls.

I would stay well clear of Londonderry, use the bridge to bypass which is just past the hospital, letterkenny after it and on up to National park and big castle house, then on along that rd past errrigal mtm to dunlewey centre, after that down to Donegal town where you can go south via the atlantic way to maybe Galway.

Wishful thinking on Derry. I just got told we are going there....like it or not.
Will my ex wife being Irish help me survive :D.
I was thinking perhaps I might need to book a few days here and there in campsites just for grandchildren...obviously we will go with them...

Derry is hilly and what you call it may land you in trouble if in the wrong place, parking is a no no i have found, im not a town person but Belfast would be a better place to spend a afternoon.

Was hoping Foyle Valley museum will have space .
I have a blue badge which does help but motorhome is 7.5 mtrs.
Just watching videos on the north west coast around Donegal...stunning
Belfast area is first on the list.

If you need to park your van in Londonderry, there is, I believe parking at the railway museum near the double deck bridge. The foyle valley railway museum. I haven't used it, but understand that vans stay over. Close to historic city.
As for campsites, I don't use them so cannot advise. There are sites at Quigley's point on the west bank of the foyle over the border. The other sites relatively near are around Castlerock and Benone. The only site with I pool that I can think of is in Ballycastle. Most sites will likely require booking.
Worth considering spending a fiver to get access to the total motorhome Ireland membership with map access to aires, sites, pubs etc.

Railway mus has parking, but close to republican housing estates, likly to return to van finding it on blocks and stripped, i know as i used to run model railway swapmeets there and we had trouble.
Go over the border north along the shore or over the mtn to kinnego bay, nice carperk and qt, there is also a park up at the big lighthouse up shore road.

I think there will be a few campsites very near beautiful beaches along the west coast and the Wild Atlantic Way.

One in particular (which we didn't stay at but parked next to) was right next to Keel Beach on Achill Island. Looked pretty good. No idea about swimming pools, but the beach there is magnificent and good for swimming - as long as you don't mind the freezing Atlantic! Having said that, the water in the shallows warms up pretty well if sunny weather 👍

There are more beautiful beaches than you can shake a stick all the way round that western coast, especially (but not just!) Donegal. Personal preference, but give me the sea to swim in over a chlorinated public swimming pool any day 🤷‍♀️

We had a really enjoyable day in Derry a few years back. Stayed at a nearby campsite right on the border and got a taxi in. Reasonable price

My days of swimming are long gone. I just sink now..
It was just for grandchildren. I much prefer the beach/coast.
The grandchildren like wildcamping but if we have to use a campsite any recommendations will help me decide.

If you do the national park and then dunlewey centre they have a parkup there, and if you go that way there is a qt place at Dungloe righ on the west after above fantastic drive past errigal mtn.

Was it a dream or do I remember that the famine village has closed? Can't even remember whether I have a memory these days!
Fantastic place

No, your memory is right, there was a serious fire there earlier this year (while we were in Ireland as it happens).

@trevskoda knows the people who run it and posted info on the forum about it.

No half the famine village burned down, but front half still going and the other bit to be rebuilt with funds raised online.
I was up last week and had a talk with Majella, she let me have a look around.
You can still park across the rd in there beach carpark and have a bite in the small cafe, beach is a fantastic one with rocks clearly going back to beginning of time with molten folds and crystalls forming, word of warning DONT go swimming as tide current is very strong.
Just up the rd to right when leaving the island there is hotels pubs etc and on round a waterfall walk.
Get you ass over here as we need the money LOL.
