In a change of plan I've decided to spend most of my allotted 90 days in Spain this Winter.

I'm looking for recommendations for a contract free SIM I can purchase in Spain...

Thank you!

Thanks Andy... however I think movil is Spanish for mobile!

Looking at their website it seems they only do a 25Gb or 50Gb plan. I'll be needing more than that.

Nah. Their website is crap but they do a 400gb EU sim which gives you 400gb in Spain and 200gb in the rest of the EU including I think the UK. There are no limits on usage or time and you can park it for 3 euros a month I believe. It seems to be the one the long termers are using in Europe now.

Lobster .only available to buy in Spain but works anywhere so I've been told by my Spanish family.

But some restrictions. E.g. free UK roaming but max 5GB data. Also restrictions on use in any device other than a mobile phone.

Hi, I have had my Spanish sim card pay as you go for nearly 10 years.
It is Digi and I can top it up from England on the net or when in Spain top up at garages or supermarkets or mobile phone shops.
It is really cheap to use. I usually top up 20 euros for the year. I use this when in France, which is normally 3 times a year, for 4 weeks at a time to ring England. The money on it seems to last for ever. You do have to top up every 6 months or it will not let you ring out but accepts incoming calls.
A friend of mine has also got the same Digi sim and has no problems. Would recommend as really cheap.
Hope this helps. PJ

Thank you. It looks very promising:

Lots of outlets to pick up a SIM as well.

I bought an Orange sim in an Orange shop in Spain during the summer. It was €20per month for unlimited calls and texts and 100gb of data, and once I’d set it up they doubled my data to 200gb; I don’t know why. There is no contract. You just buy the sim and renew it each month you want it

I've checked through the Ts & Cs and can't find a restriction on use in a router.
Hi Chris,
I think that you may have missed:
"2.3. Se prohíbe utilizar el Servicio de Internet Móvil para acceder a Internet mediante un dispositivo que no sea un teléfono móvil, o módem USB, o utilizando la Tarjeta SIM en un dispositivo que no sea un teléfono móvil. Igualmente, se prohíbe usar este Servicio para acceder a servicios de audio o vídeo en streaming continuo, acceder a servicios P2P, o a cualquier otro servicio para compartir masivamente ficheros."

The conditions for post-paid have a similar (if anything, slightly more restrictive) clause (3.3).

You seem to have found a different document to the one I checked. It doesn't have a section 2.3 and a search for USB, for example, finds no match.

I've attached the document that I found. It's dated October 2024.
