Visit Scotland Survey for camping including motorhomes

I have just done this Survey, I think its worth doing.
It takes about 15 minutes to complete.

I did it via another Forum. Final comment in relation to 'How likely to spend time in Scotland' was 'Zero. Will head to France & Spain, where Motorhomes are welcomed, instead of banned from [Scotland's] City Centres. If Scotland wants to penalise our spending, it can reap the reward of watching its tourism industry die on its feet'

I doubt very much if Scottish Tourism will ever "die on its feet" Steve.
Right now we are struggling to cope with the numbers.
And some parts of Scotland deserve recognition for being ahead of the game when it comes to motorhomes, as for other parts well what can I say.
The vast majority of folk who come here don't come in big white things, and they tend to spend a lot more than we do for obvious reasons.
I think these surveys give us an opportunity to air our views, as you did.

I can't get past the question about what type of stopover I used - it keeps saying 'please answer this question' even though I already have. I'll try on a different device.

I got that and I'd not clicked one of the buttons.

What a terrible attitude. You’re not BANNED from Scotlands city centres (Glasgow has restrictions but good park and ride facilities) in fact I would say we are very welcoming and making good progress for accommodating people sharing our hobby.

Totally agree, Scotland by a country mile is the most welcoming part of the U.K. for us, hence why it’s the only part of the U.K. we wild camp.

I prattle on about East Lothian, but I do so because they stand out in Scotland, elsewhere there would be nothing much to report.

Motorhomes below Euro 6 are banned from entering Glasgow City Centre. The terrible attitude comes from the City Council and their cronies who allow polluting Fairground Lorries, Motorbikes, Two Strokes and Classic Cars, and also permit the use of woodstoves [which produce a minimum of 400 times the pollution that traffic produces], which produce carcinogenic particularates every time the stove is opened. And Devi Sridhar, Chair of Public Health at Edinburgh University, wrote yesterday about pollution affecting our health, but referred only to 'vehicle pollution', so you think Edinburgh will be any more tolerant?

The basis of many LEZ Schemes deciding whether a vehicle is compliant and/or chargeable is the inaccurate DVLA Database where there was no consistent guidance provided on vehicle registration data, especially amongst the Vehicle Converters, the then Government deciding that it would cause too much red tape for small businesses to have to have M/Homes/Campervans tested and registered, when there was no real need/use for the data. Consequently, using examples from another Forum for the London ULEZ, one 2014 Euro 5 M/Home is compliant and exempt from the 312.50 charge; another, same model, but on a 2015 Model [with virtually no emissions/engine data recorded on the V5] is liable for the £12.50 charge, despite the owner of the latter posting details of the MOT Test emissions ticket.

My V5 is a Euro 5 engine that records only the engine size [wrongly at 2300cc] and no other details, thanks to sloppy Dealership paperwork and lack of DVLA Regs So I am banned from entering Glasgow, would have to pay to enter London, or I can go to France, with my 'less than £5 Crit' Air 2' Sticker, and Spain, which accepts French Crit'Air Stickers for compliance] and spend my money with their respective Tourism Industries. Perfectly logical reaction to a system that is flawed and based on poor data, incomplete historical data collection, and a lot of vested interests

I may stop off in Newcastle on the journey south, because Euro 5 Motorhomes are allowed, as are those with earlier generation Engines as Mariesnowgoose has proved

Sorry Steve, but first a foremost Glasgow is not Scotland, and what Glasgow are doing is similar to what cities all over Europe and other parts of the world are doing. Also the LEZ zone is small, and you are free to drive any vehicle straight through Glasgow via it’s fantastic motorway network, which is second to none throughout the UK.
I was borne in Glasgow I know the city like the back of my hand, and there are dozens of places you can park your non euro 6 vehicle within the city boundary. From there you can either walk to the city centre, take the bus, train, or subway. Glasgow is a very welcoming city, akin to Liverpool, and there is nothing stopping you from coming here, parking up, and enjoying the museums free of charge, the nightlife, shopping, and other attractions my city has to offer you.

Or come to Ireland as no one gives a flying fook.

It is a tad difficult to get round the city centre with all these fairground lorries and wood burners cruising Sauciehall street

Right now Scotland is hosting the worlds largest ever cycling event, and there are road closures in Glasgow and other cities for the ten days the event is taking place, so all joking aside I think this is worth mentioning. To date I have not noted any vehicles with wood burners, sorry Steve only joking please forgive me :(

Very blinkered attitude. Glasgow city centre is a very small part of Bonnie Scotland which already stated has good park and ride to visit its excellent exhibitions and museums. Scotlands beauty lies beyond its city’s and is free for you and others to enjoy. Go to France and I feel Scotland will be better place if you do😂😉
