Hi
Does anyone know of a good place to stop off for visiting Edinburgh?
Train journey not out of the question.

I was in Aberlady last week it’s a poi.
Its 17 miles east of Edinburgh and the 124 bus runs every half hour.
But either arrive early or late, it’s a small carpark and fills during the day.

Newcraighall (park and ride) £0.50 for 24hrs. Parked there when visiting the castle mid February 22, after purchasing your ticket walk outside the park turn right, go under the bridge is the No30 bus stop for the city centre. £3.60 only 5 miles from centre, it was a lovely fresh but cold day so we decided to walk back after a few beers and a nosh in Wetherspoons. Departed the following morning within 24hrs to see the Kelpies .

There's a secluded carpark off the main carpark at the Hillend ski slope (Midlothian Snowsports centre) off the A702 just south of the A720 City Bypass

Another vote for Burntisland.

In the St Ninians Way carpark by the loch in Linlithgow, if your vehicle isn’t too big. Edinburgh Waverley is about 20 minutes by train.

There is a small private site at Loch House Caravan & Camping on St Ninians Road in Linlithgow on the way to Bo’ness, about 15 minutes walk from the train station in Linlithgow

Hi All
Thanks for all the info, checked the Ski Slope but not very suitable as it was quite a walk to the bus.
Decided on Burntisland central car park. 5 mins walk to station.
£12.10 for 2 with Railcard return to Edinburgh Waverley on Princes Street.
Thanks to all.
Best Wishes

Burntisland 1 has better views and is only an extra minute walk to the station. But whichever you choose, enjoy.

I'd say nudge me if you need water or anything but we are off on Tuesday.

I use these guys to fill my safefill tank, which I bought from them too.
Give them a call first to make sure open.

You have lots of recommendations. Another option is Eskbank train station, if a weekend, my campus CP which is next door (Edinburgh College Midlothian campus) both have CCTV coverage, short walk or drive to Tesco, Justinlees Inn 5 min walk. Train service is borders rail line for reference, you also have bus service at Tesco, too.

Justinlees Inn!! That brings back great memories. We rented the top floor of a mansion house called Dunallan just behind the Justinlees back in the 70’s. 2 minute walk to and 10 minutes stagger back - it was a great pub back then and it still seems to have a reasonable reputation.

Know the house well, my mate lives close by at Ancrum Bank. You got the Just before the changes years later, 70’s was separate bar with real coal fire 🔥, great during those winter visits. Now gone and a neighbouring watering hole was the Eskbank Motel. Was good in their too.
The Justs rep went downhill for a while, with a change of group, a much better place to spend the night, along with decent faire 🍷🍺
