If you travel via the Eurotunnel with your pets then have a look at this online service. Our local Vets wanted £250 for our 2 dogs and I found this company on another motorhome group and was initially wary as it only cost £129 for 2 dogs. Anyway I took punt and it worked out really well. I collected the document this morning in Folkestone from Abbey Well Vets - in and back out in 10 mins and sailed through the pet check at the tunnel., I would definitely recommend them - https://animalhealthcertificate.online/. There is also a FB group called Animal Health Certificates which also give good advice.

Is there motorhome parking near the vet?
They have 3 free places at the rear of the premises. I wouldn’t say they are motorhome size but we did manage to reverse our 6.3 van with bikes on the back into a bay and it allowed enough room for other vehicles to get in and out. There is parking outside on the road but I think it might be metered.

Well yes vets here charge a lot of money BUT if you go regularly do as we have done and get a EUROPEAN pet passport from a veterinary over there 😉 we did it at a Portuguese vet for 20 euros and lasts4 years and is okay for use HERE in UK, in fact coming back last October the customs at Newhaven said he wonders why more people don't do it. So we think it's very much worth doing it regards David King TRANSIT

i got a certificate from my vet at £150 worthwhile because she did all the paperwork pre release date and as soon as i booked took her along for the physical check ! mate came down on the tunnel used abbey well very pleased with service paid £129 two dogs his own vet wanted £250 for first would do second at a discount only £150 so he saved £270

Just remember that if you get an EU pet passport, any entry by a UK vet renders it invalid. So future rabies boosters would also have to be done, and recorded in the passport, by a vet in the EU. Some EU vets require an address in their country. And, some rabies boosters have a one year lifespan, not three like here.

Not sure how easy it is to get an EU passport without an address ? French vets have told me it is not allowed .
The one year lifespan of the EU rabies jag could be a problem too .

I believe the Spanish vets are more relaxed about the address, or lack thereof. And I have heard that some vets give the three year rabies booster but its something to check for anyone thinking of doing this.

We had the AHC done local vet £65 in August some of the prices mentioned are just ridiculous

As for EU Passport

We had no issues obtaining one in France. We had no French address in fact they put our English address on it we also had the 3 year rabies as well all for 57 Euros
When we returned and went to a different French vet for worming tablet she gave the passport the once over all ok. We never had any issues at the port either The vet was excellent and spoke excellent English.

I believe that the rules in France were tightened fairly recently to prevent pet passports being issued to non-residents.

When did you get yours?

We got a French Pet passport for our dog back in September last year, cost €45 with 3 year rabies jab. Also got registered on the ICAD (French microchip registration)

Certainly got told early November by excellent vet in Paimpol that it wasn't allowed .
Maybe rules changed since September or some vets just ignore the rules ?

I don't doubt it. I am on an Animal Health Certificate forum on Facebook and it appears there is a huge variance across French vets as to whether or not they can issue to non-EU clients, it appears to be pot luck, but as you say, they may have tightened up more recently.

I use my old EU pet passport as the vaccination record. Then when we need the AHC ll the info is there for the vet. There was a proposal to re-introduce the Pet Passport in The UK. The EU had no objections, but politically it was viewed as a Brexit mistake here, so wasn't followed up by The UK govt.

Does your vet stamp your , now redundant, EU pet passport ?
2 vets refused to even stamp mine just for the record
