Welcome to the Wild Camp a Month 2021 challenge. This carries on directly from the Wild Camp a Month 2018/2019/2020(suspended) Challenge.

Guidelines
Head out for a wild camp at least once per calendar month.
A camp out on the 31st of the month into the 1st of the next month, is just 1 night and it's only counted as the previous months wild camp.

A slight change in the rules this year to promote the increasing number of British aires, If you do find and stop on one of these please promote it and hopefully they will expand, please give it a bit of a write up, how much and what facilities it provides, for example Southport has one which is £10 to stop but has a tap and elsan point, or Caerlaverock Castle is a donation with a tap, grey and black waste disposal.

Pub car parks are allowed, please state if you are charged for the use or is free to use with patronage.

Wild and remote areas are great but it you only have time for a quick one mid week between work days then these count just as much.

You shouldn't use the same spot as your "challenge" site in the same year, but if it get's you out don't stress about this one, 12 times in the same spot is better than not getting out at all.

Multiple nights out in the same month cannot be carried over to the next month or use to fill missed months.

How will this be policed? Your own enthusiasm and honesty should be enough.

Once you have wild camped simply post up one or two (but don't fill the thread) with a photo or two of your Motorhome or Campervan at it's Wild Camping spot with a short description (should you wish) and a number such as 1/1 for a wild camp done in January through to say 8/8 for 8 out of 8 in August.
If you miss one don't stress there is no shame to 7/8 if life gets in the way.

Have fun and we look forward to sharing your experiences here.

Thanks for starting the new thread Herman. We're unlikely to be Wild Camping any time soon. Born and bred in rural North Wales, and seeing the impact of the pandemic on our area, we want to help local economies recover and avoid any possible unpleasant encounters. So, aiming to find quiet, low-cost sites for the next few months. Spent Mon-Fri this week at a Caravan Club site in Staffordshire (High Onn; £14/night inc elec). We enjoyed cycling to explore the area and bought our provisions from small shops in Wheaton Aston and Gnosall. Had a great time.

Used to stop at Gnosall when we were on the boat, great butchers there (y)

I stopped in a lay by on the A164 Beverly Road at Benton on Monday and since Tuesday have been near thirsk

The lay by is in the poi’s and you get a burger van in the morning if you don’t want to cook :)

We planned on doing two pub stops this weekend and Friday went to plan with a stop at the Craven Heifer just outside Skipton, with about a mile walk into Skipton, it's not on the POI but should be. Then we planned to stop at the Helwith Bridge Inn but it was stuffed to the gunnels with vans so we carried on up to the Station at Ribblehead, but that was closed, so we settled for a nearby layby and had to pull out an emergency of fray Bentos pie, tinned potatoes and tinned veg.

Is it allowed to overnight away from home these days? I've been holding off until the 17th May, but if there's no lockdown problem, I'll try to get away next week.

Yes, has been since the 17th April 👍
Editing this rather than another reply as this thread is for nights out wilding.
It was 12th not 17th as I first posted. My van is fully self contained so comes under this:

May as well get this one in although there will be a lot more this month :)
Northumberland 17 miles from Coldstream. Lay-by picnic area. Quiet overnight and not had many stop this morning. Even get your own private dining area for having breakfast 😂😂

Gauber road is a nice big lay-by...You can park sideways and get a great outlook.
Popular with walkers but v quiet at Night...One of our "Stop here places" if near our route.
Craven effer looks good. Have had beers there in another life !

We have just had over week in Scotland and due to the introduction of Motorhome service points we did a full 8 nights without using a campsite👍. A start and finish in Glencoe, one night near Mallaig and 5 on Skye.

Which new service points did you use? What, is where, information seems to be randomly scattered round t'Internet.

MAY and a few firsts. It is half term and we got away Friday night and joined the rest of the country on our fragile road system. Two hours and many less miles later with the rain pouring down the windscreen we checked out the POIs left the motorway and spent a very pleasant night in Gloucestershire. Next night was just outside Western Super Mare. Then it was on to Wales!!! About 8pm we rocked up at a NT car park in Pembrokeshire where we have stayed before. 8.05 a council van arrived, nothing to do with NT, and told us there was no over night camping - anywhere! In 7 years of wild camping we had to move. He was driving around all possible spots on a bank holiday Sunday and someone starts again at 5am! Wow dedication! So we went to a campsite - another first! It’s ok actually. £5 each a night, cold showers and at 8 am still really quiet. No covid rules and packed in though! Hundreds of tents and vans in a not very big field.
