I am posting here because I could not see where to post on the thread.

Are these changes you have made the reasons todays post by me about motorhomes travelling to Kent ferry ports being affected by Mr Goves announcement yesterday
has disappeared ?

If so, why? It is a motorhome issue.

Remember that the forum is not moderated at present, but if five full members press report a post is deleted. If the post happens to be the first in a thread then the thread is deleted too. Maybe five members reported the post.

Edited to add that Phil very recently posted this.

Seems likely..The sooner we are back tp Phil deciding the better
It may be that 5 members with a certain political view "ganged up"
I am with Dezi..His post was not political
Just fact ..OK based on a political decision which has been made

But there’s the rub jagmax. You reckon it’s not political others may differ.
The proverbial can of worms has been opened.
But ultimately it’s not up to any of us what will be deemed political.
But trying to avoid politics won’t be simple.

I thought it was relevant to motorhomes but Phil might have thought it did not directly apply

1) Politics, religion, Covid-19 (except where it directly applies to motorhomes) and Brexit (except where it directly applies to motorhomes) will be banned topics. These posts will be deleted without notification. Persistent posters will receive temporary bans.

You could post a few more times to see if you get a temporary ban, then we will know :ROFLMAO:

Current affairs imho needs re instating with little moderation bar personal attacks and anything that is illegal or brings the site in contempt

People are aware before entry to expect robust debate so no need to proceed if it possibly offends

Equally I find censorship offensive I would far rather try snd fathom out people’s reasoning and often won’t agree but have been known to change horsesin the past as a result of reasoned debate

Just think of it as saying beetlejuice beetlejuice beeteljuice.... brexix brexit brexit .... your out of here.

This is a forum with a focus on wild camping in motorhomes. It is not a general debate forum. It is not censorship, it is removing posts that should not be posted here. All posts about wild camping in motorhomes are allowed and will not be censored if they follow the rules.

Therein lies the problem there is rumour Kent and the port of Dover will have a different status that will impact on a lot of people here if the decision reaches fruition , the problem arises when posters use the situation to berate a particular party has as happened With covid

Everything seems entwined with politics ,that affects us I don’t envy you , but we must continue where we can to be objective the site has thrived on that

Big brother looks down on us and when the sword is pointed at you who knows what will happen.

I do not seek to test the boundaries
So I simply ask

What if I posted thus
For those of us worried about the pound sinking
Move some funds into STARLING Bank and convert to Euros.
Given the lack of any decent interest in savings..(NOW) Some might consider "investing" £5,000 (or More) in Starling and convert it to Euros
As another of my posts this is in my opinion FINANCIAL and directly relevant to Motorhome travel in Europe.
Yes a possible fall in Sterling is inevitably B related !
As @Fisherman posts "Can of worms"

Just read carefully the above rule.

Except were it directly applies to Motorhomes leaves it wide open to both genuine misinterpretation by some, and open to deliberate abuse by others. And trying to determine which is the case is also open to misinterpretation. Also this means of communication is difficult at the best of times. Something said in jest, or without consultation with a liable lawyer before posting can lead to all kinds of issues ensuing from something said with genuine feeling and with regards to the feelings of others.
Trying to create a perfect platform when dealing with thousands of opinions, personalities, and varying backgrounds may prove to be counter productive.

I really liked this forum before and during the TMT debacle. I reckon the members dealt with his posts in a reasoned and at times jocular manner which set the tone for the forum, and also highlighted that the vast majority of posters are reasonable adults who can spot a troll a mile away. I agree with izzy these new rules may make posting difficult if not impossible.

Take brexit. Just about every aspect of brexit from travelling, medical intervention, possible passport restriction, vehicle standards, duty free, etc affects Motorhome owners who cross the channel. Yet someone commenting on say the fact that fares have increased on the ferries, or that the wine is now limited or more expensive to bring back, could be deemed as a remainer simply complaining about brexit, thus being political.

There is no clarity in what’s being proposed, and possibly the reason for this is it’s totally subjective and open to opinion. What a mammoth task to vet every post on here and to try to determine wether or not it is politically motivated or not. I am glad I don’t have to carry out such a task, or determine any punishments resulting from them.

I did follow the rules Phil .

Number 1 in your changes = Politics, religion, Covid-19 (except where it directly applies to motorhomes) and Brexit (except where it directly applies to motorhomes) will be banned topics.

My post directly applies to motorhomes.
It was specifically directed towards European bound Motorhomers who mayby effect by the recent changes.

It was not political insomuch as road tax, vehicle tax and MOTs are not political.

Although they all became law because of political edict as did the Kent situation.

I have to agree with Andrew Phil. Avoiding politics over the next six months is going to be almost impossible. I dont know if that thread regarding queues at Kent was deleted by you or the automatic 5 reports but I kind of hope you deleted it and there really wasnt five members outraged enough to report something that was (when I last looked in a few hours back) lighthearted but also relevant.

People can bury their heads in the sand if they wish over all this but a lot of people are going to want to know what the travel implications will be as regards Brexit and the end of the transition period. Its going to come up over and over again. I think the days of arguing the toss with each other over Brexit are long gone. We have left, there is no going back but the fall out and implications of how it effects motorhoming are not.

Dezi, your points are totally valid.
They serve to highlight the lack of clarity in whats being proposed.
This topic looks set to be the subject of debate, argument and possible resultant banning for a while on here. Ultimately it’s up to Phil what will be taken as being deliberately or accidentally politically motivated. I have like most on here belief in Phils sense of fairness, and I have no doubt he will apply the rules fairly as he sees fit. But I fear that posters who come in here and make points that are important and relevant to them, may find themselves unfairly in the doghouse. Sorry but I am at odds with Phil here, not a position I am comfortable with. Phil has developed and ran this forum with fairness, due diligence, and has created a great platform for all of us to use. But banning politics seems a bridge to far to me.
