I have just had a small stone chip on the Hymer windscreen repaired by Autoglass. I contacted my Insurance company two days ago AVIVA via Comfort and they arranged the repair at my home, great so far. when the Technician turned up today he got me to sign a form to allow him to start work and informed me that there was a £10 excess to pay, I did not know that says I, OK go ahead and do the repair .Whilst he was working I decided to call Comfort to ask about this excess , Oh no they said you don't have an excess on glass repairs only on replacement .By now the job is finished and the Technician want's his money, a few phone calls later still no agreement on this excess, Autoglass won't speak to Comfort only AVIVA so I refuse to pay the excess ,the Technician does not seem to be too bothered about my refusal to pay but his office is not happy, any way I did not pay it and wonder where we will go from here, Comfort are saying that if you Insure direct with Aviva there is an excess but not if you Insure through them, but it is not very pleasant to have to refuse to pay after the job is done. I have E Mailed Comfort expressing my dissatisfaction with AVIVA and asking them as my Agent to deal with the matter for me.So much for AUTOGLASSES T.V. add saying Little Chip won't cost you a Penny to be repaired if you are fully comp. it won't ,it will { might } cost you a Tenner.:lol-053::lol-053:

I had a phone call today from Autoglass Repair department, Customer Services, they apologised for asking me to pay a £10 excess on the repair they did and accepted full responsible for their error. They confirmed that some policies do carry an excess but not mine through Comfort, so a result there.

Had the works van window replaced, they asked if I was VAT registered, er yes, "Well as you're VAT registered, you have to pay the VAT on the job, not the excess, but the whole job"

Trying to get a receipt for it was a nightmare.

I've just completed a vehicle interior repair course, should of done glass repair instead:drive:, going by this screen repairs could be quite lucrative paid both sides......oh well...bit of a con really innit

My local hardware store "Stermats" do a single chip windscreen repair kit for under a tenner,
it contains a small amount of liquid, and a vacuum syringe

Lorry :drive:

I learned from this one a few years ago and it turned in to major pain in the arse - I said yes.
Now whenever I'm asked if I'm VAT registered I just say NO.
