Hi Peeps. Currently wilding at Angers on the Loire and will be heading to the town of Chartes in a few days. Really, REALLY don't want to go to a campsite if I can help it, but I'm short on info about the area - does anyone have any wilding gems in that area that they can pass on???

All the best!

Hi Wes

WE have visited Chatres a few times ,the town center isnt overly camper friendly (its been a couple of years since our last visit ) ,there is a linear carpark along the river under the cathedral N154(pay and display)but the spaces are quite deep at the one end and shaded by trees did an over night there once and no probs ,we have used the spot favoured by the truckers at the junction of the A11 /N154 surounded by hotels and shops but we have used it a couple of times and was ok for a quick stop ,i have been told there are spots by the airport but never had the chance to check them out ,depending on the size of your motor be careful of going inside the inner ring road N154/D24 etc the streets are narrow and steep with a nasty oneway system just to throw a spanner in the works , but the town is good and cathedral is splendid (ask at the desk they do english language tours and tower /crypt walks ) if you want to stay outside the town there are some quiet little villages on the 154 they have now been bypassed and are quiet little backwaters then there are the center comercials on the outer ringroad N123 just depends what you want and the size of your moror .hope this helps

Thanks MOS, that helps a great deal!!!

The better half is away so it's just me and an almost 8 meter van so I will definitely heed your advice about the smaller roads. I think I'll try the car park for a night them look at the nearby villages. Can't wait to see the Cathedral.

Thanks again!

Hi Wes

if you can get there on a saturday the markets are on (3)in different parts of the town ,well worth a visit
and there is a caffee on the (i think )place Billiard that do early evening music befort the lights at the cathedral come on we noticed they got bigger every time we went so should be a good show by now (we have just come back from LeMans) they do a similar thing with lasers and the carpark under the city walls along the river is camper friendly and right next to the show ,Have fun MOS
