We like to do a long Europe trip in the van most years. This year we decided to stick to the UK. We had a plan but as is the way this changed as we travelled. Some figures.
27 – nights
2 – nights we stayed where we planned to stay that night
10 – nights we stayed at a location, but not necessarily on the night planned
18 – nights CR
3 – nights CU
2 – nights OR
1 – night OU
3 – nights campsite (3 campsites)
Over the last 11 years we have spent many nights in English CRs and can count on one hand the number of times there has been another van overnight. This time on 12 of the 24 nights at a CR/CU/OR/OU there were other vans there. Not sure whether this is a trend, time of the year or where we stayed.
Some of the highlights, in addition of course to meeting Phil in Hawick where we both were overnight!
Dumfries and Galloway – Dunskey Castle near Portpatrick, Theave Castle, Blackhead near Killantringan, Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns, Crawick Multiverse
Northumberland – Hadrian’s Wall from Steel Rig
County Durham – High Force & Low Force waterfalls
The scenic drives across open moorland, for example the B6277 between Alston and Bowlees and south on the B3276.
Photos, if you use Instagram see link below, and a few below.
