Have just come across this forum, and it is just what I have been looing for! Hello to everyone out there :)

Me and my husband have just sold our house and are now mortgage free - hooray! But are now living in a tiny two berth caravan and looking for a more 'permanent' home in the form of a motorhome - but which motorhome to buy is causing us a few sleepless nights. We are both in our late thirties and looking to live in a motorhome on a full time basis. We will be working in the UK during the summer on holiday parks to earn some money, but then travelling overseas in Europe during the Winter - and travelling back 'home' to Scotland a fair bit so the motorhome would have to be winterised.

Can anyone recommend a motorhome that would suit us and our budget (around £20,000). It is only us and our cocker spaniel so we don't require heaps of space, but some kind of fixed bed would be good. We have been looking at A class Hymers, but the ones in our price range have quite high miles - but these motorhomes seem to be workhorses so does the high mileage matter?

Also been looking at the insurance senario as we don't have the dreaded 'permanent address'! Comfort Insurance seem to offer a fulltiming policy, so has anyone had experience of this 'fulltiming policy' who doesn't have a fixed address.

Any help or handy tips for us would be great, and happy camping

Regards
Amanda

Thank You

 welcome to the site you will get all the help you need on here but this site may also answer a lot of you questions better The Motorhome Fulltimers Association | Motorhome365

A great big Thanks for the information - the website you suggested is fantastic. It is good to know there are other people out there who have the same idea on how they want to live their life as us.

Have seen a Euramobil 556 2002 Mercedes engine for sale on E-bay which is for sale locally - they are asking for £23,000. It has done 64,000 miles and looks tidy inside. It is the exact layout we are looking for - but not sure price wise if they are looking for too much? It is hard to gauge a price for a used Euramobil as there aren't many out there for sale.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received - is it worth a wee look?

Thanks for the help

I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage as they are or were commercial vehicles made for high mileage. More important to make sure that the body conversion is in good condition.
Obviously a low mileage would be more appealing but you could get a low mileage vehicle that someone has full timed in for years. Not good if the habitation area is worn out!

Think I will go and have a look at it, it is only a 20 minute drive away so nothing to lose. The pictures on e-bay are not very good so it is difficult to tell the condition unless you physically go to see it. Won't worry too much about the mileage as our budget won't stretch to something with low miles.

Thanks again
Amanda

It all depends on how much space you want. Our Adria Twin is perfect for us - but we don't full time, but it was ok for three weeks away. What we really value is the fixed and very comfotable double bed, which has a lot of storage space underneath. I also like the Adria Twin as it is Fiat Ducato van so it is relatively compact. See Sophie’s & Adam’s website and blog about their travels in their Adria Twin. Europe By Camper
