BBC News - Up Snowdon in 4x4 'on 50 things to do list' - driver

Whats peoples views on this? I went to the summit of Snowdon on the train about a week ago so I know pretty much the route the 4x4 took.

What I find most amazing is how no-one spotted him considering he must have done it at night, when the train wasnt running (10pm - 9am) IN TOTAL PITCH BLACK DARKNESS - he would have needed his lights which would have shown up like a beacon on a mountain.

On the one hand, I like his audacity and sense of adventure but on the other, the media, Police, Park wardens etc are condemning his actions as irresponsible.

I hope we get more details of how he did it and if he`s not allowed to drive it down... please can I? :)

Yeah, "no motorised vehicles" is one of those do as we say and not as we do rules as we saw two landrovers being driven down there along the path to Pen Y Pass.

I can`t see how the Frontera is stuck. I reckon he left it there on purpose to prove he got there.

Much as it does not worry too much if few Suits who have never been on a mountain get their feathers ruffled. If the mountain rescue team say its a No No, their word is final as they are the ones that risk their lives to sort out the mess when it all goes wrong. Which happens on a regular basis. Get there permission then fine, lets have some fun.

use it as a tourist attraction ,and sell bottles of pop and packets of crisps from it  insted of spending thousands removing it ,that is untill it rots away , and being a frontera that wont be long .

Would you believe, whilst I was walking along this path, I thought someone could offer rides up and down the mountain in a 4x4. They`d make a small fortune.

good idea just dont employ the frontera driver as he is ok going up but cannot get back down

my landy would have made it to the top and back down again no probs lol. It was a silly thing to do in my opion tho. Thier are lots of approriate places he could have challenged both himself and his vehicle without the need for this. He could of got into difficulty as it was probaly done at night in the dark which could of ment putting other ppl in danger trying to help him.
