I received a scam email today inviting me to accept or decline an invitation for a vaccination. I expect most people have heard about these scams but thought I'd post this for info, to give you an idea of what one might look like. I also double-checked it online and found the exact same message here. The wording "it then goes on to say" is part of the message! All a bit random.

I obviously didn't click but have no doubt it would have asked me to pay, when we all know the vaccination is free. A whole new reason to "Stay Alert" 😊

NHS

As part of the government’s coordinated response to Coronavirus, NHS is performing selections for coronavirus vaccination on the basis of family genetics and medical history.
You have been selected to receive a Coronavirus Vaccination
  • Use this service to confirm/reject your coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccination:
  • >> NHS - Accept invitation
  • >> NHS - Decline invitation
It then goes on to say:
You can only use this service if you have received an email or SMS regarding this invitation. You can not use this service for anyone other than yourself.

You are also free to reject this invitation, your appointment will be issued to the next person in line in that case.

I had one this morning as well. Their mistake was to use an email address that isn't known to any government department and certainly not to the NHS who only have my mobile number.

The f-i-l has had a couple of these despite already having had both his 1st and 2nd jabs due to being CEV, i.e. 80 years old with a serious medical condition.

Same here Sam re the email address... and, when I looked in the header details, the sender address was a Hotmail one!

I too have had it, twice, so me being me clicked on the decline button and then was asked for my name, address, plus other stuff so I diligently filled it in and clicked next. Even though I had clicked the decline button they asked for my bank details in order to verify that I was who I claim to be, well I did and received a thank you email from the NHS, and as my name is Mary O'rielly from Donnegall with a Hindustani bank account I am looking forward to my jab.
ps, we had our first one a couple of weeks ago
