v5c and V11Z

I bought my Burstner almost a year ago. Not used it a lot because of the ravages of asbestosis --- which amazingly accourding to my oncologist I seem to cope with quite well.

Bought in UK with a wad of documents, handbooks etc, all of which were thrown in a file and, apart from the handbook were not looked at again

Today the DVLA sent me a Vehicle Tax Reminder as V11Z
Err - a what?
I have other vehicles (2) and am familiar with a v5C, but had never heard of a V11Z

Finally READ the V5C that came with the Burstner and noted that as Taxation Class it says "disabled". Now I never wrote that on any forms so I guess the seller

(registered motorhome sellers) must have done so

I would never try to "cheat" a system so dash to the Post Office and asked the guy there what a V11Z MEANS

-- means you do not pay Vehicle Tax he says with a big smile
He checked with DVLA - true !

I NEVER tried to register disabled (but I am)
Has anyone else done this
Any problems ?
Vehicle is Fiat based 3.25 ton Burstner
How much would be the normal taxation?
Sounds like I may anyway buy that expensice Campers Satnav

Yes previous owner disabled, you have to change the taxation class when you purchased it.

I know its tempting but get it sorted out, before it gets seized from you.

There have been a lot of invalid claims in past, gov are much stricter now, Afaik unless it has specific adaptations it can no longer be classed as disabled.

That is MY interpretation, and was confirmed by the man in the Post Office ----- who provided some sort of stamped receipt. I may contact DVLA directly

Vehicle tax exemption
Eligibility
You can apply for exemption from paying vehicle tax if you get the:

higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement
Armed Forces Independence Payment
The vehicle must be registered in the disabled person’s name or their nominated driver’s name.

It must only be used for the disabled person’s personal needs. It cannot be used by the nominated driver for their own personal use.

You can only have one vehicle tax exemption at any one time.
