So it's years since I've been down to the Smoke.

What would be the best tickets for getting round London anyone, Oyster Card or Travelcard?

Need to get from Victoria bus station to Sheen Saturday evening, Sunday relax day but may hop aboard tube/bus to get to Kew or similar, Monday morning get from Sheen to Harlow.

I’ve got an Oyster that I use in London, but apparently using contactless is just as good. The Truth about Contactless, Oystercards and the Tfl fare rise

If you're going by train, I think a Travel Card as part of your train ticket is much easier... just one ticket for all public transport. I checked the zones and it covers Sheen. Depends how much extra you need to pay for the Travel Card element or if it's even available as part of your train ticket from your home area... I'm not sure if it works across different networks because I'm already in the South. If for some reason you do have to buy your Travel Card separately from your rail ticket, then I think the Oyster card works out cheaper, although a lot depends on the zones you need to use. You'd have to check via the Journey Planner on the National Rail website to see if you've got the option to add the Travel Card to your train ticket. A one-day Oyster card is also cheaper than paying lots of bits and bobs by debit card if you're crossing various zones but it depends how many individual trips you end up doing. As Sam said, everything is capped but it's a different price for different zones.

You'll have to scroll through a lot of other info to get to the good bit but this website shows all the costs ...other than the cost of an all-in-one Rail and Travel Card.
London Travelcard or Oyster? Identify the right pass in 2019

Hope that all makes sense!

Oyster card or a touch debit card, buses don't take money and a lot of train ticket booths are closed so you have to use the machines.

When we go down now we just use out contactless debit cards, don`t bother with the travel cards anymore.

Yes your contactless debit card turns into a travel card if you use it enough, all done automatically.

And of course you can use other people oyster cards if they have credit on them.

Whatever card you use be sure to swipe/touch it as you leave the station at destination or the system thinks you are still travelling onwards and charges you more.

Miserable grey weather all the way down from Durham & still is. Bus journey comfy, v cheap and on time, only 3 stops: Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield and no changing buses :)

Use your card as an entity. not wave your wallet or all your cards in there take a charge off each. I have to show ID too to get in the pictures.
