Thinking of leaving

nowadays

Guest
Hi guys, hope you're all well :)
I've searched the site for how to close an account down here but can't find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction please :)

Sorry to hear that you are leaving.

I believe that if you no longer visit the forum, you are automatically deleted after 6 months. You really need to contact Phil for this information, try the 'contact us' button.

Good luck for the future.

why leave is it because you dot have a van ,i have sold mine but may get another in the future i certainly hope so but if not well i will still stay , but stiil post and read the other posts . i have made too many friends on here to leave over the years it would be like losing one of the family .

i have a forum and we don't delete inactive members unless they ask, but it isn't for advertising reasons - our advertisers pay by number of ad impressions not based on how many active member we have (but that's just the way my forum works, different in other places). Also, people might want to come back at some point in the future ;) and the forum software came setup like that as default and i never saw any reason to change it.

I'm not sure why people want accounts deleted on forums actually? But then again i hide pretty good on the net and don't put my real ID out there much...

i only went golfing once in my life. I enjoyed a bit of a laugh because i had no idea how to hit the ball and it took me like 20 shots to get it in - but it didn't go down very well with all the other club members that i found it amusing, they were all super serious. I was naive at that time and thought that normal golf was a bit like playing crazy golf on the beach... oh nooo it's much more serious than that and apparently one must have the proper attitude at all times and must wear a suitably pained look on your face when you miss the hole.

Golf is not for me!

Many thanks guys. No, I don't have a van nowadays but spent many happy and adventurous hours with my ex in his- it was a shared dream come true and we used to always check in here to either research the next adventure or post/share places that we'd discovered.
Sadly, things are no longer so happy and he's not been too nice about me on other websites recently. Id much rather not run the risk of being hurt any further via social networking sites :(
One day, Im hoping to get a little 'Bambi-esque/Sooty van' when finances allow. I may even pop back with another name? I have a good friend who uses this place (we found eachother here after years believe it or not!!) and it's been a giggle reading some of the posts here also. Ill contact Phil and thanks again. Happy wilding everyone- live the dream x

Hi nowadays, sorry to see you go :(

If you can drop me a message I will carry out your wishes.

I would like to pick up on a couple of points from this thread...

On the 28th of August 2011 member pauld2 joined our community. He is our 20,000 member!
Over the past 18 months I have deleted more than 8000 user accounts that were inactive.
I used to delete free member accounts with no posts after 3 months but after the mass clear out it is now 12 months.
I never delete full member accounts as they are either subscription or lifetime.
We currently have less than 2000 inactive members based on one years inactivity.

I do not sell advertising space on the site directly to advertisers.
All ads are google adsense and they do not care how many members there are :)

Hope that answers some questions

Phil

I keep getting google ads for red diesel in the header of this forum, lol. I think they were spying on me though cos i was reading some forum discussions somewhere else about people who were using it and got caught, etc.

We used adsense for a while too Phil. But earning was MUCH less in our site vs sold space (my forum is totally different to motorhoming tho, no connection at all, but i'm not gonna post it here as i don't want people from there finding me, i have a few stalkers from my site already!). 300 - 400 pounds a month on adsense vs 3000 to 4000 a month paid ads. I use an agent who takes 30% commission though :lol-053: If you are interested i'm happy to share more info with you privately. Otherwise just ignore all this blathering on, haha.

Been there and got a wardrobe full of the tee shirts.
But I also say hang in there gal. My ex went and took everything including clearing out the bank accounts but I carried on regardless and managed to get myself a bongo which is not ideal but fits my needs at present. making loads of friends now and that has been the biggest help of all in getting over the loss of someone who was not just a wife who cheated but a mate and best friend as well. or so I thought.

:ditto::ditto::ditto::ditto::ditto::ditto:

Or failing all that, stay here and bitch about the ex....no, on second thoughts, that might not be such a good idea.

It doesn't feel right to have to change what you do because of what he does.

Thanks so much for all your feedback. believe me, this is the easy part of my life to consider leaving- the past week has been spent seriously considering and discussing leaving my job :(

To answer the above :_
We covered most of Cornwall and South Devon- living in Plymouth it was ace to have the two areas to explore on our doorstep.
Van- First was an old VW Lt 35; former field ambulance with much character (which included many breakdowns and AA call outs!!) - wonderful van.Second- Kontiki Swift (about 20 years old) - reliable engine but lacking the same character as the former and sadly suffered (and I believe it still does) from severe water ingress.
Favourite places? Trebarwith (Cornwall), Mevagissey, Beesands and Dawlish Warren (when it was campervan friendly!)
Least favourite place- Padstow

Phil, I can't see where to send a message!!!

Don't you blooming dare leave here! You are a wildcamping legend in my eyes. You shouldn't allow him to scare you like this and Im sure he wouldn't attack you here, the users are far too nice and protective to let that happen to you.
You should report him to Facebook for whatever he's written and shared to his audience, I would! His nasty and childish attacks on you shouldnt compromise your own enjoyment and youve been a member here for some time now!Don't let him win (again!). And besides, we've got adventures to share together on here and you're article writing is far better than mine!!! xxxx
