Not long now before the motorhome & caravan show at the NEC ( 16- 21ST Oct )

For me I am looking to buy

1 A thing that will show me where the strongest tv signal is coming from

2 Some new brackets that hold my tv aeral pole to my van ( fat chance but worth a look )

3 Arrange to buy & have fitted a solar pannel ( I can't wait for this )

4 A 12 volt tv ( I wish I had got one in the first place but never mind eh ! )

So what things are you hoping to see / buy whilst there ?

its van conversions i want to see particularly what Horizons unlimted have done on new Transit van and want to compare other makes.. am a bit stuck on Fords, just starting to think should look at some others as comparison. And want to look at the big posh ones just to feel that van envy! Then def all the gizmos and gadgets, hours of fun! have you been before and are you overnight?

Who's actually going to this?

The NEC charges the earth for parking, so although I'm not far away it works out cheaper to jump on a train which drops you off at the NEC. I didn't realise this was on, but I might go myself as the dates don't clash with anything, apart from Saturday evening. We could set up a mini meet inside.

would Sunday suit? Our plans aren't finalised but hoping to wild camp saturday night nearby and attend Sunday

Last time I went to the NEC parking was included in the ticket price.

Sunday will probably be a better day. Sat was very crowded last year

Free parking depends on which show you are going to.

Some shows include parking, but most don't. This one is trying to get you to part with money, so may have free parking. There is a way round paying, but you need to know which shows are doing free parking so you can head for that car park.
I us the train unless I know I'm going to have to carry stuff back, or I can fill a car and save on parking costs.

Parking is included in the ticket price.

I'm going on wednesday.

Hope I don't buy anything - just going for a nosey.

Oldish Hippy thank you for the link that was very kind of you ,
As for Morrisons ( tv ) I zoom in grab a few bits all excited for my weekend trips away in the camper, Looks like I need to slow down a bit, I never new they sold them too cheers for the pointer.

Lotusanne

Trasits are nice though, my works van is an 07 transit & it drives better than my car, very comfy even after a long drive 3-4 hrs or more , but I know what you mean it's nice to look around at what else is avaliable too.

First trip to this particular show so thought we would bite the bullet & go for 2 days staying in the NEC car park 1 night only (Thursday evening ) for the whopping £30 per night Ouch that hurt !!!! , my own fault though I left it until a few weeks ago before trying to get a camp site , you should have heard the laughter down the phone as we asked if they , (several nearby camp sites ) if thay is had any spaces )
Trouble is without the hook up at the moment i'm a bit up the creak,

If anyone else is about that evening maybe there could be some sort of get together ?

I've just looked at the price.

That's amazingly cheap for the NEC, especially as it includes parking, which makes it worth driving over. I've just remembered my daughter mentioned possibly coming that weekend, so I might have to go in the week. If the forecast looks good I might go on Sunday and head off from there for a few days, before heading up to the Hallowe'en meet.

Going for a nosey, dream a bit, and part with some cash (can't avoid it really).
Can't afford a new van, but can get loads of ideas to upgrade my current vehicle.

Looking at an awning for our new van, one that slides into the fiamma wind out awning. Also need the fitting to fit an outside bbq point. I will have a look at TV mountings, the previous owner had removed it & fitted a microwave in the TV cabinet & mounted the TV to the wall. Don't think it is worth us having the microwave due to the weight & can only use on hook up, not many wildcamping sites have free electric but know of a few in France & Germany. Other thing we need is insurance as ours runs out at the end of the month, prefer to deal face to face rather than on the phone.

Possibly a brand new rapido 9048df

Seriously?? Just googled it and it looks amazing, great layout, not too big, love the curved cupboards, that van has definitely got the wow factor - as I just discovered when looking at the piccies!! have you seen one before? or making decision at show after viewing? Definitely suffering from van envy now!! Though i do love my little van, exactly what i need!!:D:D

I may get a replacement Smev sink/hob unit. My current one is playing up. The electronic ignition went caput and the thermocouple is not working too well. Various other parts missing too. I've only had it 3 years but using it 365 days a year gives it some punishment. I've also abused it for heating and I think it may have got a bit hot at times! I'll be fitting a propex blower so the new one will have an easier life :)

Sounds interesting. Had a little search, but can't find anything. Anymore details on the HU conversion?

Yeah you dont see much about them, a small family firm i think but great reputation for quality and design, not cheap though! Here is a link to their website, this is actually to the Cavarno4, you need to scroll right down to see layouts and photos. What I like is small size but everything in, and great pull out bed above cab for grandkids....

Horizons Leisure Vehicles | Motor Caravans Tamworth

I read somewhere that they were unveiling their conversions on the new shape van at this show so hoping to see that. cant afford new van until I retire so hoping will have come down in price by then! let me know what you think:hammer::hammer:

Ahh, I thought you meant the travel forum Horizons Unlimited had commissioned a MH design / build.

Thanks for the link though, they do look nicely put together, as you say, not cheap.
Will have a good look through their site, see if I can nick any ideas. :)
Thanks.

I might see if I can persuade the OH to go to this. We're supposed to be getting the channel tunnel on the 16th but maybe we could go a day later and go to this on the way down...

The only problem is that we'd have to leave the dog in the van all day :(
