Smev water trap van sink.

Hi, does any one know where I can obtain an O Ring seal for the Smev water trap common in Motor homes, the complete trap is £10 and upwards depending on where bought but I only need an O Ring,I have just replaced the sinks in my van [enameled and tatty] with 2 stainless steel Smev ones , but now ,one of the traps is dripping after cleaning it,Sods Law ?thanks in anticipation.

When I needed one I measured the old one (OD, ID and thickness) then trawled the o ring suppliers online until I found one.

If yours is just leaking slightly, smear it in grease, Vaseline or similar and refit it. That should seal it.

O ring, visit the plumbers merchant, a roll ptfe tape may well do the job, again at the plumbers merchant.

In the dark days when I was working ,our engineering stores had rolls of rubber O Ring material of all gauges and the guys just had a length cut off and made their O rings by simply joining the two ends with a special glue similar to super glue, but now ??:idea-007:

If so, strip clean and put back together with silicone sealant.

No it is this one.

Waste Fitting Double for 25mm ID Hose Made by SMEV It is the seal ring that is housed in the removable base of the fitting [ not shown ][remove the base by twisting 1/4 turn to remove ] for cleaning or unblocking.

It may be the same as a domestic trap, but you'll just need to measure it.

Grease it

Get a tube/tube of silicon grease.
Its waterproof and seals small leaks.
