Today I’ve been told that the SAGA card is closing down in March, and thought it useful to share with members. . For anyone affected it might be worth looking at others Halifax Clarity card as always seemed popular as well as Caxton and the Nationwide

WAKE eee WAKE eee !

Sorry serious post for those who have one !

Halifax Clarity and Caxton FX cards here, no problems what so ever and we`ve no intention of changing

Yes, it's true, I've had a letter from them confirming it. No reason given, I'm royally pi$$ed off.

Yep we’ve had the letters this week pi$$ed off to say the least as off tomorrow over the water.

Martin's Money Saving Expert

And the bad news is that you have to pay off any debt in full or have i transferred somewhere else at an unstated interest rate.

So if you owe money get the debt transferred to a card of your choice asap.

Saga to axe Platinum travel credit card

Halifax Clarity,Caxton FX and Nationwide Flex Plus cards here, so very well covered. :cool1:

I also had a letter this morning and we are going to Spain for more than a couple of months on Thursday. Fortunately, I have a Halifax Clarity card as well otherwise, I would have been in dire straits! Why could they not have announced this sooner?

What about those already abroad with a Saga card without means to apply for an alternative?

And... because it's 28th March ... it must have something to do with ****** being an Irish bank!

To be fair, those who head off overseas without at least three ways of getting cash or paying for stuff aren't very smart

I had 3 but now I've lost on and too late to do anything about it!

Thanks, the reason for my posting was not really to discuss the merits of each card but warn people for the very reasons you describe
