:scared: no deterrent for third generation willynotwork gimme familys
BBC News - Wakefield Council review over offenders' theme park trip
a true story ,in 1962 two 13yr old broke into their school and pinched the dinner money, being master criminals they told everybody next day at school,2wks later they were at a camp on the north coast in norfolk for 6wks ,arrived at dinner time and only stopped running on the spot for their meals and to sleep, one said to an officer (only the once mind) you can't make me how ferkin wrong was he,after 6wks of no home or outside contact only as they called it SHORT SHARP SHOCK TREATMENT these 2 boys went home to lived happy ever after, job done as they say.

p.s.no it was not me but my best mates, one is now my daughters fathering law and often says it made him.

Bet they didn't have top of the range trainers to run in??

Unfortunately, there's too many "Do Gooders" who will say it's against their human rights - never mind the rights of those whose life they have destroyed.

There have been TV programs where this has been done, and it works on the whole!!

on arrival they were given vests, shorts, pumps and a track suit, my mate waky said SIR these are to tight for me !!he said don't worry they'll fit you next week when you've stopped lookin like billy bunter and they did

p.s. this never appeared on their police record as on leaving school he did 6yrs in the army and then 28yrs in the police force

Birch the lot of them!! No holiday camps or soft prison.

When we were kids the threat of getting the Birch terrified us,(not that we ever considered the stuff kids now get up to, we were brought up to know right from wrong) now there is no deterrent and too many do gooders and dare I say it too much in the way of human rights for the wrong things...

It makes me hopping MAD to think that WE have to respect THEIR Human Rights when they don't give a toss about OURS. IMHO, once they commit a crime, they have forfeited all right to human rights, and should be treated as they deserve!! :mad1::mad2:

Riots this the problem

If I did something wrong when I was a child I got a whack from mum or dad, I did not do it again!!!
I wonder how many of these yobs have a proper mum and dad to keep them on the straight and narrow, I have seen many a girl produce a child just to get a home and be kept by the state, one even artificially inseminated herself, had the baby was given a little bungalow didn't want the baby so passed it on to her parents but kept the property.
When I was young if a girl got pregnant she was sent to an un married mothers home and a lot of the time the baby got adopted, if the government stopped supplying homes and money to these girls, I think that there would be less yobs around!! Bambi 2

Yes and in the same day, people with learning disabilities were placed in mental institutions, is this the type of day you want to go back too? i dont know the answer to the problem we have in todays society but i think taking babies of young mums is horrific, especially for the child, i worked with young girls many years ago, one of the girls father repeatedly raped her and also invited his friends to join in, my point is, men/ boys should not be excluded from the demise of this country.

. . .

This made me smile. When I joined up our uniform to begin with was what we called denims but are more properly called overalls or coveralls.

Not sure but I think it was six weeks before we were issued with real working uniforms and about the same again before we were measured for best tailored uniforms. The tailor told me it was because our bodies changed shape so much in the first three months. Boys into men.

I truly don't think conscription into military service is the answer. I joined at a time when we still had the tail end of National Service and the few that were still there didn't want to be there and we all felt a bit superior to them. That can't have helped.

But conscription into some sort of disciplined service has to be a good idea. But give them to do what, well I don't know. Does anybody know anything about Borstals? Approved Schools I think they were called.

when i lived in bath in the early eighties there was an institution in walcot st,basically an asylum for "fallen women" which had about 30 inmates remaining, all in their late 50s and 60s who could be seen regularly being led round bath by the staff.all unmarried mothers of course, who had been sectioned by their parents with doctors help, kids took off them of course and by now totally institutionalised.never saw any of them start a riot though.don't remember seeing a home for fallen men, must have been in another town.

Trouble is if you shove a great load of thugs in together in anything, Army, Prison, Borstal, what ever. The biggest thugs educate all the little thugs and you end up with a school for criminals. What we need is a bit of imagination and a government that has the courage to try new things. Get the thugs that throw the petrol bomnbs and make them help out on a Burns Unit for a week. Nothing like the smell of infected burns, the sight of them or the reaction of the patient to having their dressings changed to sort the men or women from the thugs. I am sure we could come up with a relevent punishment for most things.

hi tom ,i have read on here what a lot educated people have had to say in the different threads and not commented one way or the other but what i know is if a person as no fear there is nothing you can do to reach them? i don't just mean physically but also of failing ,i knew i had to work, my 4 children knew they had work to pay for what they wanted in life? but they like me also had the fear (may be the wrong word)of failing and letting us down and themselves, pride, self esteem ,ego whatever but without it these kids have no chance

Trouble is Arthur, our idea of personal pride and self respect runs around working hard and bringing up our families the best way we can. These idiots take pride in getting what they can for no effort and laughing at the rest of us that pay for it in one way or another. I agree a bit of fear and a wake up call are needed.

So the women became pregnant by miraculous conception then? pfft, the pill wasnt around in them days so who should have been responsible for contraception ? many women were raped suppose that was there fault too? suppose they were wearing short skirts and asking for it. :(

not bad. still got me wrong though

oh well, nowt wrong wi a bit of banter, ya see N brown, you could say i was a fallen woman as i too was a single parent but i have always worked and provided for my family, we shouldn't put everyone in the same box, not all single parents bring up yobs, i have two beautiful hardworking girls with lovely homes and children they have morals and family values passed down from me, and i got mine from my parents , so what gerneration has created the gerneration we have now?
