I recently bought a new Nextbase dashcam and decided to use the old one for a rear facing role.

So I bought a 10,000mAH USB power bank. This will give around 14 hours filming time.

All I need to do is to remember to start and stop recording rather than rely on the ignition on and off to do that bit.

Hopefully I won't need it, but it does offer extra protection.

Why did you not fit a usb socket and connect to a live 12v feed.

I am guessing that the battery failed in your old Nextbase? Make sure that with your new one you set it to 'snooze' after a minute or so (ie, the screen goes blank). I have changed the battery on a Nextbase, it is straightforward if you have a soldering iron, a new battery is really cheap.

That's true, the built in battery had failed but that wasn't why I bought the new one.
