Going to look at a Chausson 85 with removable steering wheel. Bit worried re the latter. Any comments please?

I have to be honest I find a removable steering a bit worrying. What if someone forget's to stick it back on and drives off. There's always one!:D

Even worse what if you're driving through France enjoying the scenery and you point with your left hand to the left whilst resting your right hand on the door arm and you say to your wife "Look to the far left love, zebras!" - then you look to your left hand pointing to the left and you can see you're holding the steering wheel with the same hand and then a roundabout approaches. No thanks. Something like that would happen to me.

There's A few Motorhomes that have one in fact seen quite a few driving cars :wacko: :wacko:

Just ask if they have the original steering wheel for you as well

Alf

steering wheel

I have had a couple of these on cars. One on a open jeep and one on Mk2 escort.
They work a treat and great deterant unless they fancy driving with mole grips.
And Lewis Hamilton doesnt seem to have any problems.
Cheers Dave.

My 1994 hymer has a removable steering wheel. No problems at all. You could. Not forget it.
Good anti theft deterrent. You could not use mole grips as the boss is to large.

<snip>

A bit like the REME officer who motored off a mooring in Yarmouth and then turned round to unlash the tiller from the backstay - still motoring at full pelt...

Could never happen to me - I'm not a contortionist, so it would be the left arm resting on the door. :D
