I've let my C1 lapse a year or so ago. A replacement PVC I'm considering really needs up-plating to 3900 ish to be properly usable for wilding. Does anyone know how tortuous a process it is to reinstate the C1?

First hand knowledge here - 3.5 months so far and counting. But I’m 70 and with a heart bypass history slowing things doooooown.

Provided you have no underlying medical conditions, it’s not a great problem. I allowed mine to lapse, but ordered the D2/D4 pack from dvla (https://www.gov.uk/dvlaforms), had a simple medical and eye test and hey presto!

My first medical was done via GP with a separate eye test but subsequently, I’ve used https://d4drivers.uk/. They do both at the same time, are very helpful filling in the forms and considerably cheaper than the GP. (£58). They have locations all over the place….

I have just got off the phone with DVLA about my licence renewal. They confirm they have received my medical test results and they are in a queue for review. How long the queue is he didn’t know. However……….

We will send you a letter with our decision …….. within 12 months!

And an update to this. I wrote to my MP last night to see if he can speed things up, he’s a Tory believe it or not, and this morning……….

Checking online I can see I now have a full C1 licence until Sept. 2027 Success! Is it a coincidence or are Tories best to get things sorted?:ROFLMAO:

And I’ve double-checked it and I still have my bike licence as well - not that I ever had one for the first 3 years of my biking life
