I know this subject has been talked about before but looking at the muck on my solar panels I was wondering has anyone cleaned them with Rain X or will it damage the surface i thought it might make a great rain and muck repellent what do you guys think.

This is the lable of the back of a bottle of Rain x 2-in-1

As your panel is flat it won’t make any difference, it will when you are travelling at speed in the rain

I've used RainX on windscreens and it's really good but never thought about the solar panel... interesting though. It has a slightly greasy feel and you have to use it very sparingly in my experience.
Some folk say it's also good for lightly smearing round the inside of the motorhome toilet to keep... erm... stuff... from sticking :rolleyes2: Apparently it saves a lot of extra cleaning, paper, water, etc. Never tried it but again, interesting.

I am going to treat my Motorhome roof (which is fibreglass) with 'wet and forget’ in the very near future.
I have just spoken to the manufacturers, who assure me it is perfectly safe for use on solar panels.
