PLEA FOR HELP!

RUTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL ARE TRYING TO SHUT LYNDON TOP CAMPSITE DOWN AND YOUR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

WE ARE ASKING FOR EMAILS OR LETTERS OF SUPPORT LETTING US KNOW HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN VISITING US. THE MORE SUPPORT WE GET THE BETTER.

Please send any support to info@lyndontop.com or to our office in Cumbria

More info on WHY

Might help.

Unfortunately I cannot support as I have not stayed @ Lyndon Top.
But I expect you will get good support from here..I hope so.
Best wishes

to our office in cumbria ??? thought the site was owned by the local pub at manton,

No it is Lakeland Estates ,, lakeland like in the lake district, Lyndon top is the best place I stop and I certainly would not stop in any CAMPSITE or caravan park in that County if they closed Lyndon Top.
More information needed to understand the reasons, probably upset a nearby local campsite or caravan park owned by a local lodge member or councillor, maybe both.

The cl/cs on the opposite side of the lane, just before you turn into Lyndon Top is owned by the pub at Manton (they also have the cl/cs adjacent to the pub). I have been going to Lyndon Top since about 2005, being only 45minutes from home. Without doubt, my favourite site in U.K. Went to Arthur’s funeral. Didn’t manage to go to site last year, due to family commitments etc but intend to visit soon. I understand that changes were made last year and new barriers were put up. It would be a massive loss to the area if this site was lost.
David.

my first visit to lyndon top was with the wildcamping annual rally........lovely site right on the banks of the lake...very spacious, clean,tidy.quiet.......there were also other rallies being held there by other camping clubs ........Arthur and his wife were lovely people. i would give top marks for the site.

i think the rally for this year at Lyndon top is on motorhomer .......

looking at the lyndon top website....the above plea is also on there......wonder if the campsite in the same area....up the lane.....is also on the council list to try and close it.??????

it would be a shame if the council do close the site.........as questioned in a previous post....wat are the reasons.

maybe Admin will know a bit more about it...............surprised that there are only a few posts on this thread

Just thought that this thread deserved a bump, in case anybody who goes there hasn't seen it.
An email to the council as well as to Lyndon Top in support would be much appreciated by them. We're there at the moment in this glorious weather, what a shame it would be to lose this place.
Maddy also has a petition in the office which everyone who visits should sign.

there are apparently 7 sites within 5 miles of the water and another pursuing planning permission two of the existing sites have variation orders in , i am on a park home site at langham the new owners have submitted plans to move the touring site away from the fixed vans with another access & while doing so redevelope the present touring site to hold more park homes, meanwhile the old owners have land near the pub at manton which they wish to develope as a site?, the farmer who owns the field by the sailing club is also in pursuit of development, you can understand why the council are checking all of them out lyndon top has always been a bit of a misnomer neither fully fledged site or cl/cs

Thanks for the local info, although I don't know what you think "misnomer" means - they describe themselves as a caravan and camping site, which seems accurate to me. Of course they are neither a CL nor a CS because they are not connected to either of the two over-regimentated organisations, the CAMC or the CACC. They are an independent site who do not charge inflated fees for services that are not needed.
