Hi, just want to double check - now there is an E.U. extension through to 31st Oct does anyone see a problem with taking a dog on holiday within that period ?

If we are in the EU until then, no problem.
We have been hanging back waiting to see & maybe we'll get Sparky a passport npw as I can't see us missing out on France between now & 31/10.

EDIT
Oops, just seen this.

"Theresa May, who had wanted a shorter delay, said the UK would still aim to leave the EU as soon as possible."

Once a deal is agreed (I know) is there not a 2 year period before anything changes ?
Think the only possible difference with dogs is the post rabies vaccination blood test ? (Can't remember the name )
Not convinced anything much will change for dogs . I'm sure somebody will find a way to charge more of course .

Anyone hanging back because of the pet passport should just get on with it. If there is a deal and we leave before 31 October then nothing has changed. We have till 31 October to be out and back if you are still worried about no deal. Just get on with it. Its noticeable that there are very few Brits out here in Europe just now.

Realistically the only way we will leave before Hallowexit would be if a deal was agreed and the associated transition period would mean nothing would change for a further two years.

It seems to me that no deal won't be allowed to happen, with that in mind I'd go ahead with travel plans because it's unlikely anything will change until late 2021. Just IMHO.

Tend to agree, let’s just all get on with our travel plans. In the very slim chance of a “no deal” being announced whilst being on holiday (with dog) we’ll need to assess things quickly. Absolute worst case is we head for the port and get back ahead of no deal date.

The only time you will get a problem is if there's a no deal, other than that you will have at least 2 years to sort things out,
We have had a titre blood test for rabies on ours as we did not want to take a chance, mind it would not be bad being stuck in France waiting for a test to be done there.

If no deal whilst you are away, you can get a local vet to do the health cert. this is needed for moving the dog around the EU. Pet passport would still be valid for re entry to Uk. Agree with BiggarMac ... waiting is not necessary.

My understanding is unless the situation changes i.e we leave with no deal then current pet passport restrictions apply and the consequent transition period(due to a deal ) Only if we crash out does it become a sudden game changer
