I have been having an email conversation with Sainsburys Supermarkets, regarding overnight parking. I don't really want to post the entire conversation as it runs to several pages but the last I got from them was;-

As my colleague Kathryn stated below we would need to know which stores you plan to visit so we can ask the manager. While we appreciate you would spend a lot of money with us we wouldn’t want to guarantee you can park there without checking first.

Your idea about letting loyal customers park for a few hours in a car park that we own has been passed to our property team for their consideration.

We appreciate you contacting us and look forward to seeing you and your wife in store again soon.

Kind regards

Lynsay

I have removed the surnames but the rest is just what they sent me. If anyone wants to read the whole thing then I am happy to email them a copy. I have not yet put it to the test but it sounds promising.

I personally have never had a problem with overnighting at sainsburys. I always let the night security know I am there as a matter or courtesy and I also go in for a brecky in the morning and make use of their toilet. Never had a problem yet.
I do understand though that some of their parking is owned by other agents so there could be a problem there but so far touch wood haven't come up against one.
Incedentally there were 4 vans at Thetford Sainsburys last night

Would you PM me the Sainsburys contact email you have? I would like to add my thanks too.

Hi Fairytooth,

I have tried to send you the whole file. Let me know if you don,t get it.

Richard

I would just park in a quiet side street nearby the store, there are generally loads of such locations in urban areas.

You don't have to write emails, you don't have to ask anyone, and you don't feel obliged to buy anything from anywhere in particular.
