Hi Folks

Yes I'll be there!! I wouldn't miss it for the world, Its got to be one of Britain’s best sporting events... You get to see close up how easy golf really is and how difficult we mere mortals make it!! Also if we are really lucky and the weather changes you get to see ‘Golfing Gods’ reduced to ammeters..

I get the chance to work up there every year so I get access to all areas, including the club house etc.. It should be a good year as it not been at Turnberry for quite some time, I think it was 1977 and I've never been there before..

Hope to see you up there... - Andy:)

I do odd bits of work for Nike now and then, plus I'm part of a small team attached to the Army that look after players.. I've been quite fortunate to look after a number of European and American players over the years. You don’t get to see much golf as you spend a lot of the time watching the crowd, but it pretty cool job!! Over the past six years I’ve looked after one famous American in particular which gets me some street cred in my Golf Club as well as into a few good parties and the odd background appearence on the TV..

I got a couple of neat photos, that make me look a little like where's Wally, however my mum always managed to spot me!! The Opens always a busy time, early mornings and late nights and the atmosphere is always electric especially when someone starts making a run on the last day!! There not many sports you can get that close to the players during an event and see some of them out in the evening in the restaurants and pubs..

What a game...... Andy:)

There is always a long queue for free Passes, especially as the RNA have got the tournament days at £55 each.... I did ask a famous BBC presenter once if he’d get me a couple of free tickets for the U.S Masters, he said ‘Can you get to Luton Airport 5 days before the event starts’? Yes I said excitedly... Good he said, that's where the queue for free tickets starts....... You’ve got them!!
The practise days were always a good bet, as you can take photo’s and the Players are always more relaxed and sign autographs, however they even put the Tuesday Wednesday up to £30!!! I think the Sunday is £10 and more players have started to go out from the Sunday....
I can’t promise anyone tickets at this stage, but I’ll keep you in mind as we get closure to the date.. Who knows someone might get lucky!!

Andy
