When we return to Newport to visit family the spots we know to park up are being stopped. It is now a difficult choice where to park safely and that’s only in the past seven years. We don’t really enjoy the wardens job but it does provide us with a safe place to park.
I hope that Bristol keep trying to see the bigger picture here I think they have been good during the lockdowns.

It seems the "civil liberties" of law abiding people is being eroded.
My pet hate is as posted and height barriers which exclude us from "Nice lunch/tea stops for maybe 1 hour".
Yet real miscreants get away with it.
Target the soft options ! And ignore the real lawbreakers !

Ps1 I am getting incredibly pissed off with the UK in general...I will not specify as the post would be deleted.
Ps2 I used to be an avid UK supporter !
But so many things have gone downhill !

found out 2 things yesterday . the Bath Clean Air Zone includes, for some reason , Victoria Park , and residents want to stop campers on the Downs . we often go to the park for a camper lunch and a walk, lovely place. same with the Downs . my entire life seems to be marked by these tiny, but relentless assaults on my liberties https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/residents-van-dwellers-clifton-down-4715645
I had a phone call from the nurse at the doctors asking how am I doing ?

Next question can we put you down as DNR :(

I do think anyone living full time in a vehicle in a residential area is taking the !
It must upset those who pay taxes and rates, not forgetting the devaluation of their property if they own it.

I think people living in their vans pay taxes. Everything they buy adds to the governments coffers.
When we lived in the UK, we paid stupid amounts of council tax ( £2500 a year)
For that, the council emptied our dustbin once a fortnight. We lived in the country at the end of our own 1/4 mile driveway through woods, which were regularly full of fly tipping which we cleared at our own expense. We had our own cesspit and soakaways.
We had no streetlights or pavements within a mile of our house, the road we lived on didn’t even have its own name or number.
So, if you live in your van and don’t pay council tax, don’t worry, I’ve paid enough for a few of you over the years!

if you look on the map it's not really residential- but it's very wealthy
Clifton-ites are a special breed. I've done a fair bit of work, and a fair bit of drinking (not together lol ) and I've never seen such a high concentration of up their own ar5e self entitled people. And on the wealth - not as much as you'd think. So many people living one (decent mind) pay cheque to the next. All cars on lease etc. I don't consider that wealthy.

They must still have real physio service, lucky peeps.

Postcode lottery.

Last year the physio offered at my local hospital/NHS Trust was a total joke and not a very funny one at that.
At least it was a 'private' joke... ;):ROFLMAO:

Locals are very fortunate, aim of Primary Care Centers was to take the pressure off hospitals and this site (scaled down versions) offers a birthing unit, treatments room, Minor Injuries Unit, outpatients (inc endoscopy), x-ray, physio, X2 GP practices and a day hospice!!

.......AND free parking and the best maintenance man money can buy ;)

It doesn't really matter what it is or where it is, It is the concentration of MHs that is the problem. One MH turns up and parks and it's like a beacon. I know from personal experience because we have done it. Driving down a road you see a MH parked. Your brain then thinks great Ok to park so you do. Bristol has a problem with affordable housing but I don't think that 50+ MHs parking in a park is the answer. If they had been travellers they would have been moved off long ago. There are too many mixed messages from the Council. If they are prepared to let them stay they they should be providing somewhere to dump the toilet waste as it is a Biohazard. Doing it in a carrier bag and putting it in a bin is also very iffy IMHO someone is expected to go round and clear it all up. Making it all pay and display and enforcing it would mean the Council has money to pay for the facilities. Hmmm sounds like an Aire.

None of the MH dwellers are paying anything into the local community. Every household in Bristol pays towards the Parks and other recreational facilities yet they cannot park because the place is full of van dwellers. It's hardly fair.
