Not sure but I think you have to log on to Google for the options to show, I have mine set to log onto Google automatically. I can click on the options icon (looks a bit like a gear wheel) at the top right, then select 'Maps Lab' then you get a set of options you can enable.
Just tried it on another browser not logged in, you can select the options but it doesn't keep them unless you are logged on.

i always use acme mapper still google maps but the cross hairs in the center of the map alway's show co-ords can be set 3 differing reading's min's etc very useful, also find the terrain setting useful once you get the hang of it
