multimeters are far too busy looking for the uninitiated, all most people want is a continuity tester , and 12v and 240v tester.somebody should bring out a simplified version. [not me ,can't be arsed]

They did. Turn the knob to continuity, volts AC or volts DC. Lol

Multimeters are just so useful for ruling out problems. I do think the amount of connection points and settings probably puts some people off using them though.

I think analogue multimeters are possibly easier to understand for the compete beginner. Ooooh the needle moves. Rather than a load of meaningless numbers on a screen,

I have a older one from ww2 ,its in a a wooden box wonder if its worth any money,its called a runbacken if my memory is correct.

Yes when testing capacitors I find a moving coil meter more comfortable, my AVO or robin
