Money abroad

It definitely seems like the better one to me and was easy and straight forward to apply for it.
The only downside is the minimum top up is £50 ... I move money around accounts all the time and sometimes I have a spare £20 would of liked to have just topped up as and when, especially when I get tips from work, it would stop it being spent on rubbish.
I just signed up with "save the change" with my Lloyds account so any extras will be topped up in this card also. It all helps 😊

If i see a rate that " i think is ok " i`ll top up there and then because the rate you get stays on the card as euros no matter what the Interbank rate does.

This can of course work against you if the rate go up further but that`s only happened to us once in all the years we`ve been using it.

The best i did was a few years back when the rate hit 1.4105 euro and i put a couple of thousand pounds worth on and secured that rate.

Just after we went away the rate dropped dramatically down to 1.30 euro and then again to 1.20 euro so all our next 2 trips abroad were funded at the 1.4105 rate.

So you are only pretending to be a Cupid Stunt then, sounds to me like you are all there with your cough drops! 👍

i have a lloyds account.... what is this "save the change scheme" all about ?

I have never had this happen in many extended over Winter trips to France, Spain and Portugal.

And I almost exclusively use unmanned pumps.

I use a Halifax Clarity card, MasterCard, and I wonder if this applies to other cards e.g. Visa.

I think this only happens with the preloaded debit cards Chris. I use Halifax Clarity credit card and it's never happened to me either.

A few years ago the Asda fuel station in Long Eaton took 11 days to take the payment for £36 worth of petrol, I was using a debit card and it said I could put £120 of fuel in, £120 was in the pending transactions for the 11 days so it can happen with all cards not just pre paid

Top up when the rate is good.If traveling to Scandinavia or Switzerland where we might not return for a few years then swap remaining balance into Euros
