The landlord of the auction house we rented was a sad git silly rich individual, totally friendless and who had to buy his bed comforts, his raison d'etre in life was to make more and more money, which he really did not need. Anyway, one day he approached a few of us with a box full of fake diamond encrusted Rolex watches, they were bling awful, hideous things. Landlord asked for £100 each, he sold all but a couple, selling around fifteen or so. He later told me he paid a fiver each for them, not a bad profit hey? but the point of this story is the fact that so many people wanted to look rich even if it was all a sham. Why?

We used to have a neighbour who was a lot like that Ral. She used to shop in Lidl but take Waitrose bags with her because she didn't want to be seen taking Lidl bags from the car. She even admitted as much!

Wanting to fit in with the perceived 'in crowd' or peer group? I can understand kids doing this, but adults? I guess at the end of the day most folk want to feel as though they belong to one social group or another. It takes strong minded characters to stand out from the crowd and go their own way.

The reason he probably purchases a B.P is because it would cost a lot less than a divorce. When Paul McCartney got his divorce someone worked out how much K he could have spent on an escort per night and would have put up with a lot less heartache and saved a fortune. 🤔

Here’s my phone Oppy had it a few years now and still going strong does what it was made for. John. That was like the phone Malcolm had and he had his years with him having two hearing aids and the amount of times that it was dropped on the pavement and in water and fell out the car was unbelievable sadly the flip bit broke so granddaughters play with it now

She even admitted as much! Mate used to do the reverse with his newspapers Rob, bought The News Of The World and the Times, he used to put the Times into the TNOTW before walking home, did it to protect his street cred in the rough part of Burnage, M/cr. Incidentally, he lived in the same area as the Gallagher brothers - nuff said.

A phone! How outdated! I have had a chip inplant with a brain interface. Full wireless and mobile signal compatability. Display to vision link so no old fashioned screen needed. I can have a display as big as the sky if I want. If our motorhome breaks down I can call a mechanic, give him control of my eyes and hands and he can fix it for me. My health is continually monitored so I can get an early diagnosis if anything is amiss. I neednt have bothered going to school as everthing I need to know can be downloaded in a single day. I can communicate with my familly or anyone I choose soundlessly and share thoughts, look through their eyes , share touch smell and feelings. I never get lost as I have a 24/7 virtual map. Its not so easy to have an affair these days but hell, you cant have everything. Phones eh. I saw one in a museum once

A young lady turned up with a diamond encrusted “ look at me phone” on posh pawn, turned out technology had moved on the phone was practically useless. I bought my first iPhone used from ex when working in Wales..the FaceTime apple equivalent was invaluable take photos instantly be in contact with the factory in west York’s,so could price accurately not lose work and react...the cameras are better than some purpose built, sent an address, click postcode had a sat nav,,,,all fits in the pocket. The reality is with smart phones is I suspect very few of us myself included use them for full potential,,,internet banking on the move useful too when away from home Andrew no way should you ever do banking on a open to all android ph,if you must then buy a uber one or the likes which use a secure linux op sys like sailfish etc.

Any chance of a pint of what you are having please. Of course the technology seemed slow in coming but after the corona virus lockdown stretched into its 3rd year , with virtual travel being such a big thing the technology came on in leaps and bounds
