Mercedes Sprinter Sprintshift Gearbox Problem

Just changed the gearbox oil and there’s no difference! Still not changing up through the box automatically. So disconnected battery to see if it rebooted the ECU stuff - again no difference. So it looks like a few bob at a Merc specialist to see if they can sort it out. 🙁

If you run into problems I can lookup it's original build and and service specifications for the gearbox.

If you want to message me with your VIN number I'll look it up.

Ok. This is the latest up date (2nd Nov 21). Changed gear box oil - no change. Been waiting ages to get it on a diagnostic computer at Merc specialists. Been all day with her at a Merc specialist - the diagnostic computer recognised the gearbox set up 👍 and other software stuff but couldn’t talk to the ECU 🙁 (which also wasn’t communicating to the gearbox either 🤷‍♂️)!
Anyway, a step further forward and no charge, but now a trip to an auto electrical specialist as could be either wiring/comms issue or (worst case scenario) a replacement ECU. But can’t get it in there for at least another two weeks. I must’ve chosen the wrong trade!!

You need the electrical muliplug pulling and see if the seal has gone allowing the fluid up into the computor box. It runs up the sheathing. Quite common to have to change the pug an the contained seal.

Thanks. I’ll have a good clean of the electrical connections and see how it goes 🤞

We have a Burstner t-star 680 on a Mercedes Sprinter 316CDI chassis (2004 & 64k miles) fitted with a sprint shift gearbox. Usually lovely, well behaved, and easy to drive. A couple of days ago it decided that it wasn’t going to play in auto mode and dropped into manual change only 😡. Ok in reverse but it’s a bit of a bind having change manually all the time when it should do it automatically. It doesn’t show a fault on the dash display, just the number of the gear you are currently in. Changes down through the gears as normal (I.e. automatically) when you slow down for roundabouts or junctions etc. Also she doesn’t now like going up any incline and has to be coaxed up at low speed using the gears (like it’s in limp home mode).
I’ve looked on t’interweb for a solution, including taking fuses 3 & 8 out of the fuse box & replacing them (apparently a Merc dealer recommended fix 🤷‍♂️) but it’s no better. Next stop may be battery disconnect & reconnect to see if it reboots the ECU/solves the problem. From the research I think it might possibly be ECU related or maybe a faulty sender on the gearshift/box but before I take it to a Merc dealer/specialist to put on the computer diagnosis and find out the worst I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem? And if so how they cured it. 🤞 it’s not a new box 😩.
(BTW The same gearbox is fitted to VW Crafter vans too).

My 2005 sprintshift went into manual mode. 1,2,3 selected manually for 4,5 and 6 had to go into neutral and back into central position. Automatic all the way down the box. No lack of power. Reverse ok. Turned out cigarette lighter fuse blown. Any ideas why?
