I suggest

That Whitby itself might not be the main event for the "Ship Ants" as we call them.
But maybe the railway
Robin Hood's Bay
Goathland
The Abbey
and maybe Pickering and or York and maybe Durham

All good for the coach companies
A day trip on a coach could well involve lunch out as well !

I think they prefer locations where they can moor up. Now think of Whitby and then think of the depth of draught these big ships have.... does it marry up? Biggest ship we have seen in Whitby is the fake pirate and that has a draught of feet not 20+ metres.

Nice pipe dream though.

They could have sightseeing trips to places that feature in the TV series Vera, (a bit like Heartbeat country) Like the Headland at Hartlepool, Redcar, Saltburn and not forgetting the South Gare.

Im not sure as recent P and O cruises are like Butlins on sea so may be right up the chav passsengers street,and suit them perfectly!
