Hi Phil not camping this weekend but live in Swansea and regularly over night at the mumbles, Brecon is a great place next to the river as it is a very peaceful car park and has never had the late night boy racers when I have been there.

You could also try the Sally Ann car park it is quiet and by the river and away from all passing traffic. I have stayed there a couple of times. The people who run the Salvation Army there are great especially Robert the Sgt Major who laid on a bath for us at his home once.
Saly Ann is 51.747591, -3.381740 and the sports centre is 51.740380, -3.380452

Hi Teen it was here,, you can drive all round the forest in a circular route be careful though not to hit a mountain bike:drive:, its a Mountain bikers heaven:wacko: we parked just inside the forest there where 2 other vans there too further into the forest, a local told me many years ago that alot of wilders use this spot & as long as we are clean & tidy and leave early Forestry not too bothered, hope this helps:D

Many thanks for the info - I've added this spot to the POI database :)

thanks for that - my brother lives just outside of Prestatyn, so could get up that way when we have been to see him.
:)

I was in and around Wales the last 3-4 weeks. Started at Benllech then Llanberis then down the A5 to the M6 nipped back home up to the north west then repeat Benllech, Llanberis, A5 down to Oxford, then Poole then Stonehenge then home again. Covered about 2000 miles and had a great time. All wildcamping and couldnt have done it without the POI file so £15 very well spent, thank you :)
