Hi everyone going away for the weekend and would like to use the awning
only problem no instructions for assembly. NOW i have never set up an awning
do they need instructions or self explanitory, the awning type is a TRIO SPORT INTERNATIONAL A/S any help would be much appreciated
this will be attached to a Fiat ducatto autostratus 1986 model:eek::eek::eek:

Unfortunately Rattusnq there isn't a lot anyone can help you with!

It's just a 'live n learn' thing you will need to do to erect the awning 1st time. If you are lucky enough to see another like yours on site, ask the owner to be good enough to show you how to put the awning up. Also a great way to meet new people as a glass of wine / can of beer whilst being shown goes a long way! LOL!

One thing I would suggest, pop to a local DIY ( B&Q definitely sell these packs ) and pick up a multi coloured pack of electrical tape. Go back to the awning, draw the shape of the poles on a piece of A4 paper and colour code each section of pole. For example, left leg 'blue' ........ right leg 'blue/red' etc etc.
Transfer these various colours onto the A4 drawing then make a few photo copies and leave in the glove box, over shelf etc. Really does help the next time you put the awning up.

Good luck .........;)

Yes - good luck. : We've spent the weekend watching daughter and partner assemble a trailer tent: They DID have instructions:confused:, however, it did also test their 'are we compatable syndrome!' They spent 3 hours erecting the wonderful surprize package:rolleyes:, 'where does this go?', 'stick that in there', 'Jon - are you really blonde or what?' etc etc. Once put up,HAD BBQ, three and a half bottles of wine later,Had a good sleep. I think this is the key word - WINE ;)-. only one hour to diserect! Is that a proper word? No. Perhaps disassemble is better.
Anyway, practise makes perfect as they say, do go with the flow! If it gets 'right stuck' then don't force it::eek: if it slides right easy then go with it!! :p Make sure you have your squeezy liquid ready as we found it makes for a far better ride I mean slide: Once assembled, then yes - do as recommended, take a picture, lable your poles with coloured tape and have a bottle of wine to help you through the process.
Be positive - you would not want to go back to camping, trailer tenting or caravaning
All the best.

Thanx to all with the ideas, but as the saying goes "He who hesitatates hasn't a clue"LOL. Just got stuck into it, with a process of elimination only problem was all the roof poles were about 4 feet short of touchjng the side of the m/h only then did i realise that the small eye hooks on the roof poles were not to hang lights from but to release the inner telescopic pole for it to extend (dahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :eek::eek:) what a hoot!!!!

My only tip is take some rolls of different coloured insulating tape, so once you have got it sorted you can colour code the poles ready for next time. It makes the next erection a LOT easier!

Excellent idea, will have to suggest that to Fiamma at the next NEC Birmingham show when they come over.

Whilst wildcamping up in Scotland last week we stayed by Loch Lubnaig & saw this family trying to put a tent up. Didn't know wether to offer help or not (from experience found that some people just don't appreciate it) after seeing his wife go to ask a couple of other campers we went over. To be honest if we hadn't helped I don't think they would have got it up as none of them seemed to have a clue. As it was the tent was similar to others we have had in the past & the pole fittings were the same as our Movelite awning so we had it all up for them in about 10 minutes. Then we had a nice evening with them drinking & exchanging stories.

Have a look around for somebody who has a similar awning. Don't ever feel that you can't ask for help, the majority of people would only be glad to give it.
