Hi Wondered if any one can help the bulb has gone in our outside light on our motorhome removed the screws and front cowling won't come away from the unit so abviously the seal is not releasing any one got any ideas on how to get it to let go any help would be appreciated

Hi
Husband has done ours a couple of times, he reckons the bulb blows if it's turned on when battery on charge. Anyway, Autotrail use a sealing compound as well as the two screws to make water tight fit. Slowly and with great care use sharp chisel to break seal, clean both surfaces and use a bead of clear silicone when replacing cover.

Of the 4 Motorhomes we`ve had over the years our Awning Lights have always had a access panel on the inside that
unclips giving you access to the bulb.

They are normally in the Wardrobe or in a Overhead Cupboard.

No panel behind the light :( thought about doing that kath but would hate to cause any marks on the camper :(

OK,it was only a thought.

It just seemed a bit strange that you have to break a seal just to change a bulb ?

We had the same concerns but, if the cut is made between the line of mastic no marks can be made to the van. The cut leaves mastic on both the van and the light cover which has to be cleaned off prior to putting back in place. Hubby says you don't have to cut all the way round with the chisel either, once you have loosened three or four inch you can pull the cover away from the van enough to cut with sharp knife.
