Spent a night here two weeks ago and goodness it was noisy.

Lots of traffic noise and a "character" turned up at 5am in an old ambulance to play rap.

Not one we will use again.

Julie and Pete

I stayed there last Saturday night. It's quite a busy place but I find that interesting. Later on it was quiet when everyone left. Biggest problem we had was the midges. Traffic noise is minimal if you get further back.

Those sites look to be around stanedge edge, we got moved on from them by the ranger last week, local bylaws state that you cant park on national park areas, they state that overnight parking is from midnight till 0600, so if you are going to stop at stanedge edge, get there a bit later as the ranger is a self admitted jobsworth. We stayed the next couple of nights at castleton along the dead end road. I did see while I was tabbing over the hills that there is a dead end road by redmires reservoir, which looked to be ok, will have a look at that place next week or so.

last time i was at redmires road, was a huge gypsy camp. havent been recently though. i did know it used to get lots of boy racers and courting couples (that was me in my younger days!)

i like stanage edge, not been in the camper.

do you think the long dead end road up castleton is safe? i often drive up there with the dogs and chill for a few hours, but thats just in the car, not stopping over.

seemed to be ok, the first nght we stopped just by the first coach park as we wanted to go into the town for a meal and a beer, the second night we stayed right up the top, where it was a bit flatter and more space for the dogs to walk around, I was going to actually park in the coach area but as we are new to this the missis was worried about the sign so no over night parking. We were going to park in town along the main road but with 2 dogs it makes things a bit difficult.
