Think you are missing the point . The Indian variant in UK is a problem in the UK . Obviously it will be a problem wherever it lands .
The reason Glasgow was treated differently to East Renfrewshire is because of the amount of cases with this variant in Glasgow

I have no idea but there are a [comparatively high] number of UK citizens infected with the Indian variant . Surely it wouldn't make sense to leave your borders open to extra Indian variant infections ?
Bit like how daft it would be to allow people flying in from India when their figures were so bad ?

Seems to me ALL international travel from and to ALL countries should have been shut down on day one.

And should have stayed shut down until ALL counties were clear of the threat.

Would have been back to normal some time ago I reckon
