Back in the day 3 way fridges had little or no controls on 12v, most now work just as well on 12v as any other source, this would need to be checked on whatever model you have.

We have driven over 4 hrs to Dover then on the ferry for a couple of hours then 12hrs to get to Spain, all on 12v except the ferry which nothing was on, we arrive at our stop and the freezer compartment was still frozen so I had ice for a G&T, the fridge was 19yrs old at the time but it is a continental model which has a bigger cooler unit than UK models
