Well, I was just think what a canny lot you all are when it comes to virtually anything to do with camping .......

So it made me think that my O/H and I have our favourite supermarket where we get some absolutely brilliant stuff.

Well, I won't say what it is just yet but I bet there are plenty of you who have must buys of your own.

Who wants to start us off?

Aldi!! (Followed by Lidls!) If I could do ALL of my shopping in there, I would. Love their filter coffee, they do fruit fools now like the ones you get in regular supermarkets, but much cheaper, lovely "shove it in the microwave" stuff which is great when we're on hook-up. Their lamb shanks are cheaper as well, in fact I quite often do an Aldi sunday lunch with their frozen lamb, goosefat roast potatoes, frozen or fresh veg, and one of their gorgeous desserts - Rhubarb & strawberry crumble tart is a fave at the moment. They have what looks like carte d'or icecream - I could go on forever!! The best bit is how much cheaper it all is!!

I use Lidls for Quorn, porridge oats and rye crispbread, as Aldi don't stock that.

hi ,, i like asda . buy lots for taking away . but if in spain i normally use lidl. they are cheap for drink. and carrefour dont like campers in their carparks .so cant buy from them. look in aldi but dont like their foods .do buy dry goods tools etc in aldi.
you have to take alot if going away in winter as europe is blummin dear. uk is cheapest .
cheers alan.

Well, ok, those things sound excellent but I would say Lidl followed by Aldi. Maybe its because Lidl is closer to home and we see more in France.

Lidl: Ground coffee is unbeatable quality and value, Ham is fantasic, yogurt (natural & Greek) to die for. Curry sauces, veg, Hi-juice orange squash ... I could probably go on all day

Yum

And best of all, you can get 90% of the stuff in France (and other countries) too :lol-053:

We found a Lidl in France with a height barrier which was disappointing.

But Aldi in Montalivet les Bains .... OMG they have local red wine (Fontagnac various sorts) goes out the doors by the caseload.

hi , if you like curry . you should keep your eyes open for 400gram containers of curry powder by scwartz about 3.50 . they do lots of things in the big containers . there season all is brill. very light to carry and lasts ages . carrying sauces is heavy . except brown sauce have to get it here its so cheap. cheap mayonaise from uk . spice it up its cheaper than eu .
